Brooks Sets 50 Yard Freestyle Mark at Practice Meet
Rochester sophomore Loder Brooks clocked 24.2 seconds for 50 yards, shaving seven tenths from the university pool record held by Roman Woyno. In the Akron YMCA meet, Brooks also won the 100-yard freestyle as Kent State competed against Akron, with coaches noting even scoring though no official results were kept.

Don Edwards of Barberton, a sophomore and runner up to Brooks in the 50, led Kent State scorers in the meet. Bill Long and Bob Ruggles took second and third in the breaststroke, Bill Shafer placed third in the 440 yard freestyle, and Ed Christian was third in the 220 yard freestyle.

Eddie gained coaching experience after leading the training school through a successful football season last fall.
