Cliff Clevenger for House gallery seats, described the President’s appearance, the subdued Capitol mood, and the blackout of Washington as lights on the Capitol dome went dark.

John Ferry, a former Kent State University student who attended in 1938 and 1939, is stationed at Clark Field in the Philippine Islands. He serves as a mechanic and gunner in the 30th Bomber Squadron, whose home station was attacked by Nipponese bombers during a dawn raid.
