Dean of diplomacy says the U S should keep Russia in the United Nations to erode the Iron Curtain through peaceful means. He criticizes U S policy toward Germany and China and urges student input to shape a consistent foreign policy.
Tryouts for the Radio Workshop production over WAKR will be held this afternoon at 4 p.m. in the workshop. Boris Godunoff adapted for radio by Clem Scerback will be used. Scerback and Dave Freed will select the cast.
Sale of student directories sponsored by Blue Key is postponed until tomorrow due to printing difficulties. The directories list names, local and home addresses, and phone numbers of all university students and will be sold by campus sororities starting tomorrow with Gamma Phi Beta. Proceeds support the stadium drive.
The Publications Policy committee will meet today in the school of journalism office at 4 p.m. All applicants for Stater editor and business manager positions are asked to be present.
Tonight at 8 in the auditorium the A Cappella choir directed by Prof. Cara M Carapetyan presents a free open Christmas concert with carols and 15th and 16th century variations. Soloists include Peter Ulrich and Marjorie Barrett. accompanist Mrs Edna Carapetyan.
C. E. Atkinson registrar announced that blue books will no longer contain grades. Each student will receive an official copy of grades and may keep their own record. The registrar said the grade card remains the official record and asked students to deposit self addressed envelopes for Christmas mailing.
Les Morgan traffic director says all students who violate campus speed limits and similar rules must pay fines before pre registration. Failure to comply will disqualify them from registering.
UN member and former Bolivian ambassador Dr Enrique de Lozada will discuss recent UN developments tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the university auditorium. The Cleveland Council of Foreign Affairs chairs the event with Dorothy Marburger and Pat Dutton, sponsored by the Assembly committee.
Nearly 300 performers join the annual Handel Messiah in the auditorium on Sunday December 12 with two performances at 3 and 8 pm. For the first time students will sing solo parts including Gordon Dormody as bass and Elizabeth Stone Jane Jevnikar as sopranos. Professor Ralph Hartzell directs for the twenty first time as either director or soloist.
J H Fitch director of personnel at McNeil Machine and Engineering will speak tomorrow at 24 North Hall at 10 and 12. The lecture aims to give students practical contact in the personnel field, says Ardin Hays professor of accounting.
Dwight Follin, 26-year-old Akron University senior and Golden Flash center, parachuted from a Navy Corsair near Knoxville, Tennessee after a radio beam miscue. A 15-hour search with eight Navy planes and Army personnel found him in Marysville, Tennessee, tired but unscathed after hiking more than 25 miles. He is a December graduate expected home today.
