Winter quarter pre registration for university seniors begins today per Registrar E C Stopher. Juniors register next, then sophomores, freshmen. freshmen and transfer students register Jan 2 1947. class work starts Jan 3 at 8 a m. Late fees apply after Jan 3.
Kent State University Theater’s Macbeth resumes performances in the auditorium on December 5 at 2 15 PM and December 6 at 8 15 PM after a road tour through northeastern Ohio high schools. The National Thespian Society sponsored the tour to entertain audiences and gauge reactions to the classic drama. Readings followed at Willoughby Chardon Brooklyn Parma Parma Cleveland Raven Akron Clearview Lorain Washington Massillon high schools. The original cast and production staff from the October 31 show remain unchanged.
Information blanks sent out by the college of liberal arts yesterday are to be filled in and returned to the liberal arts office today. The blanks aim to strengthen the advisory system for winter quarter pre registration and to establish a definite and cordial relationship between students and faculty members. Advisors will be matched where possible by similar fields of study.
Ray E. Gilpin of Warren Ohio directs dismantling of Kent State’s newly acquired cafeteria at Dayton on Monday to transport to campus once weather allows. Workmen may start laying a foundation this week near the men's dormitories.
Waley regional business consultant for the U S Department of Commerce will speak to students at an open meeting in Room 317 McGilvery Hall tonight at 7 30. He will discuss Stabilization of Production and Employment and the role of foreign and domestic trade, sponsored by Delta Sigma Pi for business college students.
Kent State University news bureau will prepare a full page picture story for the Zanesville News to run in the Sunday January 5 edition. Director M J Raddock said outreach to students from Zanesville district areas Muskingum Belmont northern Washington and eastern Licking counties is planned.
NTFC producers Bob White and Jim Bullock announce auditions for No Time For Classes, with speaking parts from 2 to 4 p.m. today and 3 to 4 p.m. tomorrow in the auditorium, and specialty acts 4 to 5 p.m. in Room 119 Kent Hall. No auditions Thursday due to MacBeth, and new songs due by December 13.
The Student Service Association will conduct a mile of dimes fundraiser in January to aid the infantile paralysis fund. Co chairmen Marge Sculion and Bill Harvey announced the plan and said coordination with the national campaign will be discussed at a meeting in Room 210 Kent Hall at 4 p.m. today.
Proxy Jaunts President George A. Bowman will attend a luncheon in Cleveland honoring Dr. William E. Stevenson of Oberlin College. He previously joined the AASA yearbook commission and contributed a chapter titled Conserving our Human Resources. Bowman will address the Mahoning Valley Principals association in Youngstown.
Kent State University and Hiram College students living at Maple Grove housing Windham will hear a debate tonight at 8 in the Community building theatre. The topic is Resolved that labor should have a direct share in the management of industry. Prof. James N. Holm organized the event with the Windham Students union executive committee as part of a series for local students.
The 64 Question asks who will be Pigskin Prom queen for this year. Decisions will be announced at 4 p.m. when the Flashes choose a queen for the dance in Wills Gym. Past selections include Dr. Catherine MacGregor in 1941 and Elizabeth Sara from Cleveland in 1942.
Cleveland area alumni plan an informal Christmas dance on December 27 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Wade Park Manor. The event is announced by Harry Daniels, social chairman of the Cuyahoga County Alumni Association. A luncheon meeting is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at Hotel Cleveland.
Cheerleader tryouts will be held Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the auditorium. Applicants should be prepared to spend weekends here. Previous experience is not necessary.
Kent State University sorority Alpha Beta chapter of Sigma Sigma Sigma voted to become Sigma Delta Sigma. President Barbara Mc Dowell cited university growth making national ties impractical. Local group has 35 active members and 11 pledges.
Professors Merle Wagoner and Andrew Paton sought 175 000 to 200 000 dollars of surplus aircraft gear at a War Assets Administration meeting in Columbus. They asked for air corps surplus aircraft equipment plus components electronic and photographic projection gear and recording devices. Furniture and office equipment from three closed OPA offices in New Castle Sharon and Oil City Pa were allocated to Kent State. Emil Berg said the award was officially notified by Henry J. Sullivan Federal Works Agency division engineer. the university must claim by December 12.
Student council yesterday approved a $3 admission fee for the annual Masque Ball to be held in Wills Gym January 25 by the Art Club. This will be the first Masque Ball since before the war.
