In a closely fought University pool contest, the strong freshman squad upset the varsity in a 29 to 26 finish. Roman Woyno swept the 50 and 100 yard free events and swam on the winning 200 yard relay for the frosh. Loder Brooks narrowly beat varsity captain Dale in a bright freshmen showing.
Dr. Leebrick says national social fraternities would study advantages of groups and help students decide where to focus efforts. All fraternities would use University property with state leases, no chapter ownership. Local sororities may be affected by the new accreditation and national ratings.
More than a dozen wrestling coaches and officials and about 50 outstanding high school grapplers attended a wrestling clinic here last Saturday afternoon. Coach Joe Begala supervised the event with Ithent State's varsity grapplers and coaches demonstrating new holds and teaching methods for high school mat sports.
Stewart swam the 200 free and was edged by Woyno in the 50 free. Bob Crotty swept breaststroke, Eugene Gloss beat Bob Fry, and Don Edwards with Johnson won the medley relay.
Alumni basketball stars return to challenge the 1940 Kent State varsity in a 8 30 p m game at Will s gym The alumni include Bob Flanders Roy Pingoun Wayne Griffith Harold Shaffer Irnie Sullivan The Flash squad features Max Conner Dan Gulgin Harold Andreas Joe Price Mike Feduniak and others led by coach Rosy Starn.
Undefeated Engleman hall and Theta Sig volleyball teams seek the top spot in the WAA round robin at 8 in Wills gym. Off campus women face Moulton hall coeds on another court. Beta Gammas meet Alpha Omegas as Lowry vs Summit hall and previous results noted.
Two preliminary games start at 6 30 with admission to all three games by activity ticket.
