Gamma Phi Beta sorority will start selling Blue Key student directories Monday as part of a two week campaign. Each sorority will take a turn selling the listings with prices set at 50 cents. The directories include full names, addresses, and local and home phone numbers.
Prof Amos L Heer director of teacher training announced yesterday that students registered for student teaching next quarter should pick up their assignments sometime this week or next.
University rules for women were updated by Student Council on recommendation of the Women’s League. Article 12 now bars academic probation students from one o’clock permits. Article 5 revisions assign Fridays and Saturdays nights to campuses after repeated lateness, and for lateness over ninety minutes.
The Men's Union holds a regular meeting tomorrow in 219K with Neal Manning as head. Committees for Pork Barrel and the All University dance will be appointed. Football players who have not attended are reminded tomorrow’s meeting must be attended.
The ROTC Uniform Dance runs Friday night from 9 to 12 with music by the Varsity Five at Maple Rest Rootstown. Tickets cost 1 per couple and girls receive 1:30 a.m. permits. Members may wear uniforms. transportation signups are on the ROTC bulletin board.
Former undersecretary Sumner Welles will address the audience Friday at 1 p.m. on the European crisis. He recently returned from Europe and is noted for Central American negotiations promoting the Good Neighbor policy and his prior rolls in Tokyo and Latin Affairs. His books include the bestseller Four Freedoms.
Wes Stevens resigns as coach effective Jan 3 in a move to join Tidewater Oil as Maine sales agent. He had led varsity baseball and swimming, posting 18 14 record in two baseball seasons and a .500 swimming mark. The Ohio university athletic staff member since 1946, he previously coached football line in 1946.
A freshman production of Yes and No by Kenneth Horne, starring the college’s own Diana Churchill legend, plays in the auditorium tonight Friday and Saturday. Directed by Katherine Norton with Wesley W. Egan supervising sets, the comedy follows a girl’s yes versus no outcomes across acts and an epilogue reveal. Curtain 8 15 p.m. Tickets 25 cents at ticket alley near Kent hall and the Atrium.
Five candidates cleared to run after election committee corrected a rule misunderstanding. Irv Wheatley said freshmen passing two thirds of subjects may seek office. Reinstated: Malcolm Rockwood sophomore treasurer Gene Conlan freshman president Harry Shedden treasurer of freshman class Stewart Hull treasurer of sophomore class Bill Roberts freshman representative for Men's Union.
The Cuyahoga County Alumni Association sponsors a semi formal dance at Wade Park Manor Cleveland on December 17 to fund two annual University scholarships. Vincent Pattie provides music from 9 to 1. Tickets cost four dollars per couple and are sold by Lou Simone, treasurer, Hotel Cleveland Sales Department.
Dr. James E. Fleming of the Sociology Department will discuss Sociology and Religion before the Canterbury club on Sunday at eight o'clock in the basement of Christ Episcopal church.
University Theatre members will stage their first Children's Theatre production on April 18 1949 in Cuyahoga Falls directed by Prof Earle Curtis of the university speech department. the unit replaces Clare Tree Major productions and aims to broaden UT child theatre offerings as Prof E Turner Stump notes past crowding and limited facilities prevented such staging.
