University students must vote 811 in favor to ratify the new student constitution. Election day is December 9 with the result sent to the board of trustees for approval. Joe Hart notes student government hinges on this vote and aims for the permanent financial system by next fund allocation.
A winter quarter religion course titled Working Outline of Biblical Material will be offered at Kent State University starting January. Led by Rev. E W Willcox pastor of Kent First Congregational church the class designated Religion 271 aims to clarify the relation of biblical events and characters with emphasis on backgrounds meanings and teaching values. Action in starting a Bible course.
Miss Chamberlin was one of 12 candidates for the Duchess sponsored contest on campus, a campus magazine event honoring service members.
Excerpts from Arsenic and Old Lace will be aired today at 4 30 p m on WADC Akron with six University Theatre cast members. Producer Bob Raful says the production targets a studio audience. Stella Greenbaum and Mary Haines play two pixilated old ladies recounting charity to poverty stricken men. Bill Guisewite Stan Mouse present a scene with a second nephew. Jim Crafford and E Lenard Silverstein star as the doctor. Frances Allen will announce and Dick Wiese handles sound.
Nina S. Humphrey head of the school of art announced a two hour credit Campcraft course for YWCA and Scout members in the spring quarter. Leather work basketry clay modeling mask making wood and linoleum printing and textile work will use materials found in an average camp course.
The University Women's Glee Club starts a voluntary Victory Sing tomorrow at 7 p.m. in the Training School auditorium. President Joe Hart says the informal event aims to boost school spirit and unity during the crisis. Faculty, townspeople, and students are invited with sections reserved by Gladys Finzer.
Pvt. Ray Phillips, a 1942 graduate, died at Camp Bowie Texas on Monday morning after an operation on October 17. While at KSU he served as treasurer of the Newman club and of Alpha Phi Beta fraternity. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Phillips of Cleveland.
Members of the board of publications will meet tomorrow afternoon at 4 o clock in the office of Frederick B Marbut acting chairman of the school of journalism.
Tickets go on sale this week in the atrium for the mystery comedy to be staged Thursday and Friday at 8 15 p.m in the auditorium. One seat per student activity card. extra seats thirty five cents. Cast rehearses tonight as the miniature Broadway set nears completion.
A special WAAC convocation will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. featuring Lt Lichty and Lt Kennedy from the WAACs. Dean Mary Smallwood says attendees will be excused from classes and admitted at the auditorium as part of a discussion on army life and WAACs reserve program.
University students Fran Rothwell and Elvie Fish met Midshipman Bill Kellerman on a 12 hour U S S Prairie State leave at Broadway and 42nd Street. They also visited Marjorie Edsall now with the New Jersey Belleville News and met John Kiernan in the New York Times editorial rooms.
Sherwood Eddy, noted international speaker and European educational tour leader, will address the all University convocation sponsored by the YMCA. The event is next Monday at 7:30 p.m. in room 317 McGilvrey Hall.
YMCA members placed second in the Penny League as a $25 donation was added to the $37.50 already collected. Agnes Young identifies the date, with three weeks before Christmas set for activities by Men’s Union, Alpha Omega sorority, and Kindergarten Primary teachers association. The Miss Penny Drive election is Thursday at Wills Gym entrance, polls close at 5 p.m.
University students compete in the 1942 National Intercollegiate Radio Prize Debate contests. Prof. James N. Holm says more entrants may join by submitting briefs on the topic Should Competitive Enterprise be Reestablished After the War.
