McGilvrey Longtime Educator Leads Kent State
Dr. McGilvrey, born 1867 in Hollandsburg Indiana, taught since 1890 and became Kent State president in 1912, later emeritus. He held posts at Indiana State Normal, Paris High School, Freeport High School, Cleveland Normal, and Cleveland Farm School, earning a 1915 honorary PhD from Miami University. He helped Kent State rise as a major university and remains emeritus since 1934.

Police Question Two In Attempted Sedan Car Theft
Two men, Stanley Dobrowski and Joseph Hubritz, were held for questioning after attempting to steal a sedan on Summit Street at about 6 a.m. They fled as night watchman H. G. Weideman confronted them. a police cruiser pursued them to Main Street. Both men refused to answer further questions.
