The Publications Hop ends a busy social week at Wills gym this Saturday from 9 to 12. Bill Lewis and his orchestra, a top Akron act, will headline for hundreds of visiting high school students. Tickets cost 25 cents and are sold in fraternity and sorority houses the atrium and by journalism students.
The Student Union building remains active as Bob Cook chair of the committee outlines plans. He says inquiries to schools with SUB facilities are being sent to gather information.
Notice to elementary curriculum students in the college of education: those who expect to secure temporary certificates for next year should report to the office of Dean John L. Blair.
The drive aims to gather information on building type and maintenance costs. A committee led by Ed Zink Kay Maloney Don Taylor and Jane Stroup will collect suggestions from students. The student council has entered the drive and will meet every Tuesday at 4 p m to hear proposals.
A general faculty meeting will be held tomorrow Thursday April 25 at 4 PM in the university auditorium.
Tonight at 8 15 expect a student produced musical comedy titled No Time For Classes featuring 120 performers. Don Parker directs with Stan Mouse and Bill Guisewite assisting. Reita Mehlenbacher leads the chorus, Bud Gerber June Sterling and Jean Ulmer star in routines and songs as audience members are urged to buy advance tickets with student activity cards.
James N. Holm, instructor in the department of speech, will address a panel of high school students at the annual vocational guidance center program tonight to discuss opportunities in speech and dramatic work.
Gordon Hostetler senior class president says a senior class meeting will be held this afternoon at 4 o clock in the Training school.
Holm will address students at Cuyahoga Falls sponsored by the Kiwanis club. He will stress the need for college study for those pursuing speech related careers and encourage interest in the field.
The Ohio College Newspaper association marks its fourteenth annual spring meeting at Kent State University to launch Journalism Week. Noted author Louis Bromfield opens with a keynote at the Kent hotel.
Kent State University confirms Campus Night on Monday May 20 after a dispute between the student council and administration. The festival will crown a May queen and feature a maypole dance and a universitywide parade, ending with a campus dance at Wills Gymnasium. Late permits extend to 12:30 for university women.
The Kent Stater, a first class college newspaper, earned 650 points out of 1000 in the All-America ratings by the Associated Collegiate Press. Four hundred six papers from 43 states were rated. The Stater led in its enrollment class, scoring higher than last year.
