SC Votes To Heal Athletics Cut With Burr Transfusion

Student Council vetoes a $900 athletics cut and sends the quarterly budget back to the finance committee to restore athletics to 30 percent. A companion move cuts the Chestnut Burr by $500, possibly charging 25 cents to Burr receivers. Allocations committee action due Thursday. The aeronautics division gains 1 percent of funds. producer for NTFC still sought. Radio Workshop club matter dropped pending jurisdiction.

Oberlin Choir to Sing at KSU Sunday Prayers and Motets

Oberlin College a cappella choir directed by Arthur Poister will perform 20th century works and motets at KSU Sunday in the auditorium. The free concert begins at 4 30 p m and is sponsored by the Assembly committee with pieces by Carissimi Vaughan Williams Oldroyd and others.

VA Hires Myers To Replace Harlin

L. C. Meyers appointed head of the insurance and medical claims division of the VA office in the Hub. Meyers replaces Warren Harlin in the position. his office hours are Monday and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the training officer’s office.

Eleven Pork Barrel Entrants Face Tonight Eliminations

Tonight at 6 in the auditorium eliminations will remove eleven groups from the Pork Barrel contest. Three sororities, three fraternities, three independents and two dorm entrants are scratched for lateness skits over three minutes or below 2.0 GPAs. Automatic drops apply for no shows. A $5 equipment fee is charged and refundable after return. Finals judges include Berlin Price, Robert Beard, and Mrs. John Umbenhour.

AAUW Scholarship Offered For European Study

The Kent Ravenna branch of the AAUW offers a $250 study abroad scholarship for a co ed this year under its international understanding policy. Applications due May 5 with a purpose statement and at least a 2.0 grade average, plus a solid financial plan. Dr W Leslie Garnett or the university placement office provide further details. The committee includes President George Bowman and a dean along with a local AAUW representative. In 1946 Jeanne Cooke won an AAUW grant for study in Mexico.

Arts Club Special Meeting Plans Honorary and Committees

Industrial Arts club schedules a 4 p.m. meeting in 201 H. P. to form a national honorary and appoint committees. New officers are Jack Moore president Wilbur Holgate vice president Myron Pearson secretary and Bill Loughrey treasurer with Parke Shriver as publicity chairman. All Industrial Arts majors and minors are invited.

Faculty voting for this year's outstanding senior woman has been extended to April 23 at 4 p.m. Assistant English professor Laura Hill, chairwoman, announced yesterday.

Taft to Speak at UNESCO Conference May Day

Senator Robert A. Taft Republican candidate will address the UNESCO conference May 1 in the auditorium. Governor Herbert may attend and open the session. Taft travels from Ravenna after a Republican breakfast and will depart for Cleveland at 10:30 a.m. The event, sponsored by the university with the State department, centers on International Understanding through UNESCO.

University traditions will be discussed by the Council of Presidents at a meeting today in 214K at 4 p.m. The council will consider strengthening old traditions and developing new ones.

A Cappella Choir to Sing at Severance Hall Cleveland

Tickets go on sale today from the Music department or choir members for the A Cappella choir concert at Severance Hall in Cleveland on Friday April 23. Reserved seats cost 1.00 or 1.50 dollars. The program directed by Caro Carapetyan features Handl Alleluia Triple Chorus plus English Cathedral music Mouton Kalinnikoff Panteenko Tschesnoff Russian church music and Bach All Breathing Life. Secular works include Vecchi Lassus and the first American Christmas Carol Jesus Is Born by Saint Jean de Brebeuf.
