The allocations committee balanced the budget after a chaotic meeting with clashes over parliamentary procedure. They cut varsity athletics by 339.12 and reduced total allocations by 3 475.84 from available 8 103.41. council approval remains required.
The Kent Stater reactivated Rowboat Regatta will accept entries in the editor's office after Tuesday, Apr. 16. A $1 fee applies for each group in the May 18 event. Each organization may sponsor one boat crewed by two persons. Sororities, fraternities, and independents may enter. Final deadlines set for sorority and fraternity entries are May 3, independents due Apr. 26. Norma Knisely to contact city officials about a poison ivy problem. John Thomas to arrange swimming tests for entrants.
Three members of the K Vets will attend a conference of delegates from Ohio colleges in Columbus on April 27. The group will pay the expenses for three delegates, though the executive council may nominate more to make the trip. Charles Earhart, a senior in industrial arts, was elected vice president to fill a vacancy.
John Montgomery assistant professor of the speech clinic says appointments for speech and hearing tests must be made by 4 30 p m today at the university clinic.
The Stater campaign enters its second week as a book shortage persists for veterans in classes. Several titles are extremely scarce while donors including Charles Earhart Isabelle Fleasin David Ryan and Margaret Robinson contribute to the fund. Readied for lending are three copies of Introduction to Sociology by Sutherland and one copy of Psychology of the Audience by Hollingsworth.
Four daily runs were slashed from the KSU Windham schedule after evening routes failed to pay. Buses will carry a clip board for sign ups for evening or weekend trips. Weekend riders must sign by Friday morning. Transportation Director Merle Wagoner said trips require at least 20 riders to operate.
RW presents an adaptation of The Sire De Maletroit's Door as a radio workshop piece. The Saturday broadcast airs at 11 15 a m over WAKR.
Miss Blue jean social event hosts 600 scholastic journalists at a press clinic introduction by Chair man Matt Fenn. William D. Taylor welcomes guests as honors are awarded by Joseph H. Abellone. A planned university coed murder as a news event is announced replacing the atomic bomb incident.
Windham residents from Hiram College will organize a student group with Kent State University men and women. A special meeting in the Maple Grove project community building at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday will elect officers and plan activities.
The university theater production Snafu impressed audiences with strong performances. Bob White as a veteran and Bob Stevenson as his soldier buddy earned praise, while Donald Shanover as the father and Barbara Humphrey as the girl reporter drew acclaim. Jim Bullock as Senator Ford and Robert MacDonald as a Mooney's detective provided convincing support, with unique scenery and solid direction by G. Harry Wright.
The campus mixer features the election of a Miss Blue jean queen by penny votes at the box social. Dean Manchester will auction women's lunches from 9:30 to 10 p m with highest bids winning the meals shared with buyers. Chaperones listed include Mr and Mrs Fos Dick and others for the first student faculty mixer since 1945.
Alfred A. Crowell says the 1946 Chestnut Burr will be late due to printers lacking quality paper. Suitable paper should be available within a month, pushing delivery to July instead of June, with final Burr copy and pictures closed out soon.
