High School Drama Festival At Northeast Ohio Campus

The fifth annual Northeastern Ohio School Drama festival hosts 17 high schools with about 124 actors technicians and directors. Prof Wright directs the festival for the university with Prof Franklin as critic judge, featuring plays such as Not Quite Such a Goose The Clod and Winter Sunset.

Beards Rule as University Holds 49er Beard Contest

The university opens its first beard growing contest Monday for men to register with the beard registrar in the atrium. Sponsored by the 49er dance committee and Chi Pi journalism fraternity with the Ohio College Newspaper Association, the event ends Friday April 26 with a cup awarded to the largest beard.

Pop Night Fades Sparks Campus Petition Drive

Hundreds of students flocked to signatures after the university announced no more Pop Nights. Aileen Milligan, president of the Off-Campus Women’s club, called it the last program, with petitions urging the student council to restore the tradition amid campus anger. Independent’s campaign and sororities joined the effort, as officials suggested the administration believed no single group should benefit from all students.

Kent State University has received an invitation to send delegates to Democratic Republican and Liberal student political conventions to be held simultaneously at Westminster College Fulton Missouri May 2 3 4. Distinguished leaders will speak and students may gain practice in political activity. Each institution may send 10 delegates per convention with votes tied to enrollment.
