Prize Winners Art Students Displayed For Festival

Nine art students have prize winning works in the student art exhibit at the Kent hall gallery. The show, part of the Fine Arts festival, features 45 pieces from 125 submissions. Helen Meyers won first in oil, with Al Sobo second and Anne Van Benschoten third.

Rules Set For Campus Day Floats at University

Independent, sorority and fraternity reps met to draft rules for Campus Day floats. Three judges will allot five minutes per float for judging when stationary before the parade. Line-up starts at 1 a.m. with judging at noon and the parade at 2:30 p.m. Campus Day is scheduled for Saturday May 27.

Dean Defines Creativity As Arts Festival Opens

University arts festival opens with Dean John Reed Spicer urging responsibility in creativity. The event runs through May 14 with program changes including a choir concert on April 12 and orchestra concerts on April 27 and other noted cancellations.

Varsity Ball to Honor All Kent Sportsmen at Wills Gym

The Varsity ball, chaired by Shirley Marks, will honor all Kent varsity athletes instead of just football. A Varsity king will be crowned during intermission with candidates from baseball to wrestling. Tickets are 50 cents. university women get 12:30 permits. chaperones listed.

Coed Wins $100 Music Scholarship in Cleveland

Miss Geraldine Miller, a Cleveland Central High graduate and freshman in public school music, won the Southlanders Male Glee Club’s $100 scholarship. She will use the money to study voice here and sings with the 40 voice university chorus. She lives with her mother, Mrs Ethel Morgan, at 7303 Montgomery Street.

Freshmen Urged to Attend Variety Show Meetings Today

Ron Rice announces two meetings for freshmen seeking parts in the class variety show. A commuters meeting at 4 p.m. in 317 McG and a second session at 7 30 p.m. in Moulton music room will form the show committees. The event is scheduled for Friday May 25.

WKSU Forms Public Relations Unit for Campus Groups

A new WKSU public relations department, led by Gene Harrison, is created to boost campus outreach. It will service sororities, fraternities, clubs, and other organizations and invites groups to contact Harrison at Kent 3030 or via mail.
