Grainger Plans 13-Work Piano Concert Tonight

Perc y Grainger will perform a piano concert at 8 15 tonight in the University auditorium featuring 13 compositions. He explains his expressive facial expressions and voices, notes his long time study of Grieg, Bach, Schumann, Liszt and Norwegian songs, and discusses his 20 year tempo for finishing works. He mentions Hillside No 2 and his late 1920s publication plans.

Action Delayed On Faculty Spring Show Approval

Dean Mary L. Smallwood says the faculty social committee needs detailed information before approving the spring show. Blue Key and other sponsors have received letters but have not replied, delaying action on the production titled No Time For Students.

Bus Breaks Down After Opera Trip Near Kent

About fifty students rode a bus back from an opera in Kent Tuesday night. The vehicle stalled six miles north as the driver hitchhiked for help. Mary Jane Bishop and an unidentified boy then learned to operate the bus, a relief bus arrived, and passengers were finally dropped off at a downtown restaurant around 2:30.

The east suite on the Rockwell library's main floor, once a classroom, has its blackboards removed and paint and plaster applied. It will be converted into a library room as originally intended.

Greek candidates named for Most Popular awards and April election

Hope Byrne and Eddie Boyle were chosen as Greek candidates for the Most Popular Woman and Man titles to be decided on April 23. Greek party chairman Bob Cook announced the selections. Petitions for the awards and for student council seats are due by 5 p.m. April 14 in the dean of women's office, with signature requirements of 50 for Most Popular and 20 for student council nominations.

Bert Taylor Returns as Aeronautics Instructor at University

Bert Taylor, once among the universitys first Civil Pilot training students, is named instructor in aeronautics. Adrian Van Wyen announces the appointment as Taylor, who trained at the university, earned his elementary rating in 1941 and now works with Akron Airways. He will supervise five secondary and two elementary Kent students.

Science Club Hears Talk On Explosives

Prof. R. H. Schmidt of the University of Akron addressed 30 members of the Physical Science club last night linking the chemical side of the present war with the study of explosives and their applications.

University hosts first war course lecture on the Home Front

Dr. John Cuber Dr. Maurice Baum and Blake C Cook spoke at McGilvrey auditorium before about 100 students faculty and townspeople. They analyzed morale conditions and home front applications and explained civilian defense and morale distinctions. Judge Cook outlined local and federal agencies aiding public morale.
