University approves $850000 Practical Arts building plan

Trustees approved preliminary plans for a new Practical Arts unit costing 850000. Architect Harry A Fulton will draft drawings for state bids, possibly in June. The two story front houses offices and classrooms with a 200 seat auditorium and an art gallery. Eight new faculty named and street names set Hilltop and Terrace.

Auditions Open for WKSU Staff Announcers

WKSU invites regularly enrolled male students not on probation to audition for staff announcers in Studio B at 319K this afternoon from 3 to 4 15. Clarke confirms auditions for control operations and notes yesterday’s 15 minute student produced newscast and jazz program.

UT Sets One Act Plays In Penthouse Style

The University of Texas will present two one act plays in a 60 minute program at Moulton hall at 8 15 p m tomorrow. Hello Out There by William Saroyan directed by Charles Kray and Trysting Place by Booth Tarkington directed by Gene Mekler will be staged with the audience around the stage. Admission will be by activity tickets.

NEC School Press Clinic Draws 800 Students

Eight hundred high school students from about 75 to 80 schools will attend the ninth annual Northeastern Ohio Scholastic Press clinic on Saturday April 23. A banquet and nine category awards will highlight the day, with the Thomas J. Herbert trophy for best interview.

Honoraries To Accept New Members

A group of outstanding junior and senior students will be elected to Blue Key and Cardinal Key within the next month. Applications for Cardinal Key are available tomorrow and Monday in Dean Ada Hyatt's office and must be returned to Ann Irons before Tuesday at 4 p.m. Blue Key applications are due May 1.

KSU Glovers Feature Tonight's BC Bouts

Booster club trophies will be presented during intermission to the campus groups selling the most Booster memberships. Dave Freed handles MC duties as Al Newman and partners prepare a slapstick boxing bout. Eight bouts are arranged by Ed Lavery Jr with Ned Brandt and Tommy Brown joining the Golden Glovers from Akron. Doors open with student tickets 75 cents and ringside seats 1.50. The show marks the second booster event promoted by the Laverys at Knights of Columbus hall in Kent.

On The Job Robert Wolcott Joins Erie Daily Times

Robert Wolcott former Kansas State University athletic publicity director has moved to the editorial department of the Erie Daily Times in Pennsylvania. He entered KSU in 1946, belonged to Rispe Signa Chi, and graduated from the school of journalism last quarter.
