Al Welch Seeks Most Popular Man Title In 1944 Slaughter House Awards
Al Welch a liberal arts junior joins the Most Popular Man nominees backed by an independent group. Others running for MPM are Lou Zaremba and Jim Patterson. Welch is K-Vets treasurer and member of Blue Key YMCA and Men's Union board. He wrote the Skit for the Slaughter House boys which won the independent Pork Barrel award in 1944. Welch resides in Mogadore and will enroll at Western Reserve Medical School next September.

President George A Bowman appoints Eleanor Hruby as University chief dietitian and dining halls director. Funds Allocated To University Groups From Student Fund
A total of 4075.50 from the student activity fund was divided among University organizations by the allocations committee Tuesday. 4900 was available to be allocated. More than half went to publications including The Stater and The Chestnut Burr. The paper received 1040 and this plus advertising revenue funds three issues weekly. The yearbook got 1350, guaranteed in budgets accepted last fall. Next largest 465.69 went to Student Council with 350 for E-Book printing next year. Women's League received 244.85 to cover freshmen counselors for the fall.

SC Petitions Due Monday for Student Council
Petition deadline is next Monday at 12 noon for Student Council candidates for the term beginning next May. Each class will elect four council members on April 19 with student government officers.
