Suomi Choir to Perform Finnish Pieces at Kent State

Fairport Harbor’s Suomi choir of 60 youths from Suomi Lutheran church under Lawrence Jenkins will perform 12 Finnish composer pieces plus four alto solos and piano renditions by Vernon Bailey on Sunday April 14 at 4 p m in the Kent State auditorium. Tickets are 35 cents. student helpers are sought to assist in sales.

Cady And Reeves Of PC Staff To Speak Here

Ohio college editors will gather at the university for the first Ohio College Newspaper association meeting during Journalism week from April 24 to 27. Vernon Cady of the Cleveland Plain Dealer and Russell Reeves, Plain Dealer assistant news editor, join a roster of speakers for the college program. Also, hundreds of high school journalists will attend the fourth annual High School Journalist Day on Saturday April 7 with special sessions.

Pilots Reach 700 Flying Hours In CAA Course

Kent State University students in the CAA course have logged over 700 air hours with 1500 total hours planned by June 15. Ground work totals 64 hours per student with eight hours on engines and instruments remaining.

Sophomore class proxy Bob Seese announced Dick Barrie and his Columbus based ensemble will perform for patrons at the Sophomore Hop on April 19. Barrie has drawn crowds in Columbus with his catching rhythms breaking attendance records.

Queen Judging Set For Sunday

The May Queen judging for campus beauty will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. in Moulton hall, sponsored by Cardinal Key. Judges include Prof E Ladislaw Novotny Victor Schreckengost and Willard Combes. Contenders must submit a nomination blank with ten signatures and a glossy print by noon Saturday.

Fourteen Earn Straight Four Point Average at Kent State

Kent State figures from the registrar show 822 students earned 3.0 or higher last semester. Fourteen achieved a perfect four point average with all A grades in 14 or more semester hours. Names include Mary Avery and Ernestine Baumgardner among others.

Northeastern Ohio District Music festival begins today at the university and Roosevelt high school with more than 2000 musicians from nearly 100 schools in 12 counties. Budgets from each department receiving student activity fund money were presented at the Student Faculty Relations committee meeting held at 4 0 p m.
