Col W T Johnson of Rodeo Fame Dies at 67
Col W T Johnson a Texas ranchman and ally of the World's Championship Rodeo died early Saturday in a San Antonio hospital at age 67. Funeral services were held Sunday in San Antonio with burial in Denton Texas. Mrs Vann Martin and daughter Martha Claire and Mrs Weldon Williams were San Antonio visitors last weekend.

Durst Inducted into U S Service in 1943
Homer C Durst son of Mr and Mrs Chas Durst London Texas was inducted into the U S Service January 29 1943 in San Antonio. Transferred to Camp Howze in February he trained intensively and served as gunner in heavy machine gun battalion of the 341st Infantry 86th Division before moving to the Motor Division. His wife Frances lives at Denton to be near him during training.

Scrap Metal Drive Ends in Kimble County Total 241750 Pounds
Lieutenant Don R. Parsons reports Kimble County collected 241750 pounds of scrap metal including heavy motors and tractors. The haul was sent to Menard for shipment with six soldiers to follow to cut scrap and load on rail cars. The salvage crew then moved to Sonora to run a similar campaign in Sutton County.

Tommy Deady Dies at Age 10 in San Antonio
Tommy Deady aged 10, son of Mr and Mrs W C Deady, died in San Antonio on Sunday September 25. Funeral services were held at Christ Episcopal Church in San Antonio and interment followed at Roselawn Cemetery. Mrs Deady, formerly Miss Betty Butland, is noted among the mourners.

Anti-Submarine Patrol Volunteer Lester Pearl Receives Air Medal
Lester Pearl, son of T. B. Pearl of London, enlisted in December 1939 in San Antonio. After six months in Savannah and four more in Manchester he moved to Miami for active anti-submarine patrols, earning 450 hours outside the U.S. and an air medal. He was named bomber instructor at Charleston for his outstanding performance.

M. E. House Dies in Harwood Texas at 80
