James L. Liverman son of Mr and Mrs John A Liverman of Junction is promoted to Technical Sergeant in the Public Relations Office at the Army Air Base Salinas California He formerly served as secretary manager of the Kimble County Chamber of Commerce and is now an administrative clerk in a dive bombardment group stationed at Salinas His wife Constance Moore also from Junction accompanies him.
The Kimble County Library Association will hold a regular meeting Saturday afternoon at four o'clock in the county courtroom at Junction. All members are urged to attend, especially chairmen and committee members.
Junction and Kimble county residents should use Fire Prevention Week October 3 to 9 to inspect every building for fire hazards. Leon R. Powell cites recent tragedies like the Houston hotel fire with over 50 deaths to stress vigilance at homes and public buildings amid wartime material shortages.
The Board of Control announced Bennett Kindrick will serve as Assistant Superintendent of the State School for Boys at Gatesville Texas. Kimble County friends praise the appointment as a wise selection for the position of responsibility and trust.

Mrs Dora Mae Green Goben born Llano County September 17 1884 moved to Kimble County in youth married Leo Goben in Midland Texas 1912. Survived by husband Leo Goben of San Antonio son George Udell Goben at Randolph Field sister Mrs Vinie Hodges Junction and two nieces. Funeral held October 4 at Junction Methodist Church with burial at Junction Cemetery.

The Burt Fleming Post of the American Legion in Kimble county joins a national drive to gather old phonograph records. Donors may leave recordings at Craven's Pharmacy B. B. Ragland's Grocery or Loeffler Motor Company for repair and shipment to Armed Forces worldwide.
Members of the Bear Creek Copperas Game Protective Association and their wives will attend a barbecue dinner Friday October 8 at 2 00 p m. Hosts are Charlie Bishop and Grover Landers at Mrs Felix Watsons ranch on Bear Creek.
Final tabulations show Kimble County oversubscribed the Third War Loan Drive by eight thousand dollars. C T Holekamp, chairman of the county War Finance Committee, announced the count after the drive closed on Saturday October 2.

Coach Hugh Bob Spiller leads exes featuring past stars Cameron Wright James Smith Jack Stapp and Fred Phillips. Admission 10 15 or 20 cents with gate receipts funding the high school athletic fund.
The Junction Parent Teacher Association schedules its regular meeting at the high school auditorium Wednesday afternoon October 13 at 4 00 led by president Mrs Alfred Bannowsky The program includes prayer business devotional singing and talks on parental discipline and school finances by Mrs Richard Wood Mrs Ona Fattenbeck and Supt R D Kothmann with Mrs Roy Spiller presenting Parents Must Discipline Children Must Learn to Obey.
Members of the Presbyterian Women's Auxiliary will meet Tuesday afternoon October 12 at one o'clock at Mrs N C Tulloss's home for a covered dish luncheon. A special Home Mission program will follow the luncheon.

The War Department urges timely mailing of Christmas packages to overseas soldiers with a deadline of October 15. Those who have not mailed their packages are urged to do so immediately.
The Roosevelt Presbyterian Church begins a week of evangelistic meetings Monday October 11 at eight o'clock led by Rev P D Miller D D pastor of First Presbyterian Church San Antonio He is noted as a leading church leader and preacher of the Gospel The Roosevelt church and Rev Lewis L Wilkins extend a cordial invitation to the public to attend.
Red Cross workers will meet Saturday afternoon October 9 at 3 30 in the sewing room of the Kimble county courthouse. Antoinette Wynne production chairman says important decisions will be made at the gathering.
Albert W. Searcy, formerly of Corpus Christi, has opened law offices on the second floor of the Junction National Bank building. He and wife, with daughter Edith, purchased the Mitchell McLendon place on Johnson Fork in July and renovated the home. Searcy previously practiced law in Corpus Christi and worked with the Area Rent Control office there.
Mr. and Mrs. George France went to Guthrie Oklahoma last Friday to visit Mr. France's sister. Mrs. M. E. Wallace Ann Mattison of San Angelo visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Mattison, Sunday.
L R Hodges Kimble County chairman says United War Chest of Texas solicitations begin October 18, with regional quota $129 961 and local Kimble goal $2 550. National campaign began October 4 after President Roosevelt radio appeal. Texas share of national goal is $5 million with 17 agencies including USO and Relief for fighting Allies. A rancher already donated $100 as a starter.
Troop 20 Junction Boy Scouts held their autumn Board of Review Monday night October 4 at the local scout hall. Guests included fathers and Scout friends. A camp fire program followed under Senior Patrol Leader Don Jordan and Junior Scout Master Teddy Holekamp.
County War Board names Alva Fisher Homer Mosley and Raymond Allen as members of the County Gas Rationing Panel. They succeed Ramsey Randolph W B Buster and Ed Allen who resigned afterfaithful service since gas rationing began.
