Ferguson says he is not running this year
In Waco on Oct 25 former Governor James E. Ferguson told Attorney General Dan Moody that he is not pursuing political campaigns this year. He noted the state’s work on the penitentiary farm, the foot and mouth disease response, and that a special legislative session is unnecessary. He and his wife traveled, attended Cotton Palace events, and returned to Austin after 2:25 PM. A baby girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Zimmerman on Oct 25. mother and child are healthy.

Old Spanish Trail Pictures Highlight Texas Hill Country
A half page of Old Spanish Trail photos from West Texas ran in the San Antonio Express last Sunday. Harral B. Ayres, the managing director, gathered over 150 images and the El Paso Herald plans a follow up article with pictures next week. Ayres calls West Texas the most inviting tourist area between Florida, California, and Colorado, urging hotel and camp development and better advertising. The collection includes shots of the Junction Kerrville fish hatchery and the eight mile crossing east of Junction during a storm, with headquarters hoping to turn the photos into a booklet to promote the Hill Country’s attractions.

Presbyterians Plan Sunday Worship at Churches and School
The Presbyterians will worship at the Methodist church next Sunday at 11 a.m. The pastor will preach on a timely subject. All not attending other services are invited to be present. The pastor will also preach at the Eight Mile School House on North Llano at 3 p.m. W. L. Downing. W. D. Young Man Dies at Dechert Ranch
Marvin Willie Dechert son of Mrs Anna Dechert died at the Dechert ranch eight miles east of town at eight o'clock Monday morning after a three or four day illness. He had been ill on and off for two years but attended school until recently. Born June 23 1910 at the ranch, he lived there all his life. He was a Methodist and the funeral was at the church Tuesday at ten, Rev J Virgil Davis officiating, with interment in Junction cemetery. He is survived by his mother four brothers and three sisters Elgin Ben Perry and Clarence Mrs Rudolph Becker and Misses Emily and Marie.

Pro Law Indicts 200 In Texas Liquor Raids
Best Texas Oct 25 officers faced jail overflow with about 200 persons indicted by a grand jury in Reagan and Pecos counties for liquor raids conducted about 10 days earlier. Saloons and dance halls near Best and Big Lake were closed and thousands of gallons confiscated as liquor was openly displayed. Indictments issued in wholesale lots as Reagan County grand jury adjourned.
