State Highway Section Adds New One Man Maintainer

A new H P one man road maintainer was added to this State Highway Section under Sanford Roe. Jacob McDonald will operate the machine as the section now has two maintainers a five ton Caterpillar and three graders. A meeting in San Angelo discussed enforcing the new truck load weight law and a State Highway Engineer will lay out the road change on South Llano at the ten mile crossing.

Halloween Bridge Party At Watson Ranch

The lat-a-Lot Club and guests enjoyed a Hallowe en bridge gathering at Mrs Joe D Watsons ranch. Decor features black cats pumpkins and orange candles with a luncheon of baked chicken dressing fruit salad orange cups and hot tea. Prizes went to Miss Fae Taylor first and Mrs Lee J Corkill second, plus tokens for others. Roland St Clair suffered a broken arm from a fall near Wiggley Drug Store.

Steps Taken to Enforce Road Law in Texas

San Angelo reports at the State Highway Commission meeting that division engineers will verify all motor vehicles have proper license fees and not overstep registered capacity. In Division No 7 lists of trucks tractors trailers and buses will be compiled from tax records and given to maintenance leaders to report violations. The aim is not to police but to curb overloading that harms pavements and roads. owners are urged to comply to protect taxes and roads. W T Bendy, District Highway Supervisor, noted traffic maintenance efforts.

Ford Motor Company Production Record Breaks Weekly Peak

Ford Motor Company reports a new weekly production record for October 17 to 28 totaling 49,004 cars and trucks, a six day peak. The previous high day was Tuesday with 8,466 units, as tallied by Junction Hardware Company, local Ford dealers.
