In Junction a riderless horse dashed toward Cedar Creek before four local golfers and Mayor H. E. Wright intervened. Wright led the skittish steed away without remounting, as observers recalled. The column also notes a Supreme Court NRA ruling and various local tales of fishing and city figures.
About three hundred spectators attended the opening day at the City Park track as local ponies raced in quarter and 220 yard events. Winners included Jobes ponies, Rainbow, Bootlegger, Horatio, with Horatio narrowly beating Rainbow. Nita Joe finished ahead in handicap. Mayor Wright announced $64.76 gate receipts to fund track completion toward a fast West Texas facility.

Overby Smith former Southwestern University student spoke to the Junction Rotary Club on restricting international shipments of munitions. He reviewed both affirmative and negative sides, highlighted debating highs and lows, and recalled Baylor University victory and a car accident incident on a trip to Huntsville.
The 1935 Junction Public Schools year book honors Miss Austin Durst for twenty five years of faithful and efficient service as a teacher in the Primary Department of Junction Public Schools.
The Future Farmer and Rancher Rodeo opens entries with Eden school showcasing Bobby Hall and other riders like Sandy Lumbley and Mickey Hawkins. Local students from Eden and San Angelo plan to perform in calf roping, steer riding, goat roping, dress relays, and pony races starting Monday at 2 p.m. with small entry fees to cover animal costs.
The Baptist and M. S. circles will hold a social meeting at the church this Friday at four o'clock. Full attendance from both circles is requested for the gathering.
Mr and Mrs S L Upshaw and daughter Marymin of Corpus Christi are spending a vacation on the F H Dunk ranch.
Miss Victoria Brewer will depart this week for San Marcos to enter Teachers College and pursue study this summer associated with her educational plans.
Mohair clips moved briskly with more than a million pounds selling at 30 to 40 cents. The Junction Cattle Loan Company sold 17 000 pounds including the W L Moody clip at 29 to 40 cents. Wool sales, aided by heavy rainfall, reached about 600 000 pounds with prices as high as 26 1 2 cents. Government rainfall gauge shows 9 22 inches in May, the best season in four years for Hill Country ranchers.
The Junction Church of Christ announces a revival beginning on the second Sunday in June led by Evangelist O T Denman with Elder W W Leamons. A Query Box will collect questions, baskets will be shared, and luncheon will be in City Park. Further details in the Eagle next week.
Figures from the Kimble county relief office show 1063 people on relief, about a quarter of the county population. May relief expenditures totaled 4961.25 dollars, over 20 dollars per case load, versus a Texas statewide average of 313.88 per case. Officials note Kimble receive higher grants and plan re registration to verify eligibility.
Engineers advance section by section closing gaps on State Highway No 4 from Menard to Eden. Right of way secured and fenced up to Kimble county line. Surveys and soundings for the bridge over the South Llano are underway, with the North Llano bridge already finished. Bridges will serve No 27 and No 4.
At a time of strong Wool and Mohair growth communities urge demand for fabrics made from these fibers. The message highlights soft durable fabrics ideal for summer wear, affordability, and the fibers’ heat and cold protection. Growers are urged to collaborate with manufacturers to expand use.
The Borden Ice Company opens a display office in the Masonic building on Main Street next to Buster Barber Shop. On display are gas Electrolux refrigerators gas irons and other gas and ice equipment for home office and store. Mr Borden invites interested parties to call for more information.
Sunday designated as Mothers and Fathers Day as P G Haines and J B Rutland prepare to appear at the opening ceremony Saturday morning June 1 for the First Annual Future Farmer and Ranchers Encampment on the Llano. Local delegations from Kerrville Fredericksburg Garden City Eden and Harper join in with diverse activities and a Sunday church program.
