Miss Mary Katherine Spinning of San Angelo spent the past week visiting with Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Livingston.
Jordan Cunningham son of Mr and Mrs J L Cunningham returns to Barksdale Aviation Field near Shreveport after a visit with his parents. He will soon receive his commission as a lieutenant in the aviation department.
Heavy rains swelled the Llano rivers with 1.6 to four inches in the upper Llanos and Junction. The overflow halted traffic on the Old Spanish Trail and Highway 29 until Wednesday. Officials estimated rises near Junction at about 12 feet with higher banks elsewhere from 14 to 18 feet. The flood marked the first notable high water in two years and ranchers reported fence damage but little else beyond washed roads.
A letter from Congressman Chas. L. South explains Texas is divided into 20 work districts for the new relief program. H. P. Drought in San Antonio is named state director at the Frost National Bank Building. South urges residents to submit project applications promptly and notes Congress members were not consulted in district creation.
A fishing group including Philip Joseph and relatives faced rising river waters at Ran Davis place Tuesday. Carlos Taylor waded across Mason Crossing with Walter Chadwell following in a car as headlights were submerged. Josephs spent night at Mrs J L Wright’s. Joseph walked home Wednesday, others returned by car via Menard. The Denman residence on South Seventh Street was razed last week to clear space for a two story rock veneer home. Excavation has begun for the Old English style house with four rooms on the first floor, two rooms with bath on the second, and steel casement windows.
The first annual Future Rancher encampment at Price's Camp drew 67 boys and instructors from Garden City Bronte Nolan Sterling City Merizon Eden Eola and San Angelo despite heavy rains. Highlights included Sterling City winning burro polo, Eola taking the playground baseball contest, and George R Pepper of Junction as the only goat roping entrant.
The Junction Church of Christ announces a week long gospel meeting starting Sunday with 8 15 p m services and all day programs on both Sundays. Evangelist O T Denman will preach at eleven, with basket dinner in City Park at noon. Congregational singing is set for 2 30 p m and Elder W W Leamons will assist.
Two Edwards county horses led at Amarillo last Saturday with Tiny Comet first in the three furlong division and Toy Boy first in the four furlong class. Tiny Comet clocked 37 flat with Babe Ruth second and Ned Hanger third. Toy Boy ran 49.25 with Little Brownie second and Solo Flight third. Toy Boy has started 42 races in the past year and earned money in 40. Rocksprings Record.
Mr and Mrs Reuben Loeffier left Monday for a motor trip through El Paso and points west.
London Baptist Church members plan a revival meeting led by Rev. N. A. Sanders of Eden. Services are at 11 AM and 8 PM with a barbecue dinner at noon. Junction Baptists are invited to attend at the Community Hall.
Coke R. Stevenson Jr. and his wife Scotty Gayle traveled to San Antonio Tuesday to meet relatives in Cleburne, then returned home that night. The Cannons, Mr. and Mrs. Gay Cannon, are in San Antonio after his serious operation Monday and are expected home soon. Mrs. Cannon plans to return today.

Ten prominent Southern Baptist women on a tour through Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, California and Texas were detained overnight in Junction due to high water. They were led by Rev. J. H. Hall and Mr. Hugh Lindsey of Baylor University, with several state and local W M U leaders among the party.
Professor Joe S. Mogford leaves June 1 for a study tour across Europe and Egypt accompanied by his wife and three high ranking cotton culture students. Funded by the Cotton Ball and Pageant run by Mrs Mogford and cotton culture students, the trip continues a four year program offering top students foreign study on cotton handling.
The Lions Club sponsors a burro baseball game Wednesday at five o clock June 12 between the North Side and the South Side. Eleven trained burros will serve as mounts. It is expected to be Junctions first burro baseball match and a sensational exhibition. Admission is 20 cents for children and 35 cents for adults.
The Cozy Coffee Shop operated by Mr and Mrs Howard Blackburn is closed for renovations. The entrance is being refurbished and interior furnishings repainted. A skylight is being installed to improve ventilation and lighting.
Mrs. Jack Waldman and Mr. Waldman of Cincinnati visited Philip Josephs family over the weekend. Wilmer Slaton of Kerrville traveled to Junction for Sunday and Monday. Mr. and Mrs. J A Goodwin of Rocksprings were Junction visitors last week. Mrs. Goodwin visited daughter Mrs Clifford Hemer while Mr. Goodwin installed a Delco plant at Roosevelt. Mr. and Mrs. Leon Durst and daughter Nancy and Mrs. N S Waugh of Oklahoma are visiting the Durst and Patterson families.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Patterson of San Antonio are visiting relatives in Junction. Mrs. John Harrison and Nicky are here from McCamey visiting in the home of Mr. and Mrs. N. C. Patterson. Mrs. Brown King of San Angelo visited Mr. and Mrs. John Hawkins, and Mr. and Mrs. Roy King this week.
