All member schools of the Interscholastic League prepare for a two day contest in Junction on Friday and Saturday March 24 and 25. Preliminary competitions have been held in member schools and many attendees are expected. Programs include tennis, essay, arithmetic, spelling, picture memory, declamation, story telling, and track events with lunch served at the school cafeteria.

Cermak Assassin Executed After Attack on Mayor

Giuseppe Zangara was electrocuted for the attempt to assassinate Mayor Cermak and wound others in Miami on February 15. He was buried at state prison in a small cemetery known as Gopher Hill after a brief service led by prison chaplain Rev. L. Q Sheffield.

A car stolen from in front of the Fred Duderstadt home Sunday night was recovered near London Monday morning. A deputy sheriff attempted to stop the vehicle as it passed through London and the driver, realizing pursuit, abandoned the car shortly after.

A fine baby beef calf displayed on the courthouse square last Saturday was grown and fed by George Robert Pepper. Pepper began feeding three calves on November 1, 1952. each weighed 375 pounds at feeding start and 785 pounds after 185 days. He has fed calves for three years with stock from his father’s ranch.
