The new president, Franklin D. Roosevelt, inherits severe banking restrictions as every U S bank faces holidays. Delaware ends bank holiday while relief is hoped after Congress convenes in Washington. Roosevelt seeks swift power to act, insisting on strong cooperation to restore trade, debt settlement with Europe, and large-scale employment.
All Texas schools conduct a scholastic census in March to secure full enrollment. The per child apportionment has been 17.50. the next year’s per capita will drop, increasing the need to enroll every child aged six to 18 on September 1, 1933. Superintendent R J Bownds of London, director general of the Interscholastic League of Kimble county, announces that all extra events used in last year’s county meet will be staged again. New additions include Sub-Junior Declamations, Primary Story Telling, and Sub-Junior track events for boys and girls, with races and jumps.
Wool buyers are flooding the market with cheap “tags” and inferior wool to keep mills running on low prices. Industry leaders urge growers to store clean clips in warehouses, hold back from selling, and demand fair value for the spring clip to prevent a continued low market.
