A collection of pithy remarks touching on politics, cinema, law, and crime from press reports. Observations range from wages in 1950 to naturalization questions and unclaimed bank funds in Chicago, with light satire on courts and public figures.
Unfavorable weather did not deter a large crowd from attending Mrs. Olney Patterson’s Expression Class program at the high school auditorium. Children from four years old to high school age performed five acts with solid effort, featuring vocal numbers by Mabel Hieeges and Mae Delle Lowry. The lineup included Mrs. Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater, The Prickly Prince, Farewell Cruel World, and Saint Valentine’s Eve, with performances by numerous named students across each piece.
Mr and Mrs Dan St Clair announce the birth of a daughter weighing ten pounds on February 24 at their home. The family celebrates this new arrival with warmth.
Bodare Parent-Teacher Association held a February 17 meeting with a Founders Day program. The constitution and by laws were amended to allow officers to be elected in March. A nominating committee was named. Miss Thelma Roberts chaired the session as Judge R. R. King spoke on the PTA history and purpose. Founders Day featured candles, decorations, and the founders song.

The Junction High School vocational agriculture goat judging team won first place at Rocksprings last Saturday among five teams, totaling 1544 points of 1800. High scorers were Lester Barrett 536 and Chester Brown 515, with Eden’s Earl Hendricks 511 and Otto Cloudt of Rocksprings 501. The Junction squad included Lester Garrett, Chester Deown, Leroy Taylor, Terry Jam Jetton, and Billie Boone, coached by M. B. Bethel.
Ian k Patterson returned yesterday from De Leon where he has been for several weeks. Mrs Patterson and little daughter will visit in De Leon a few days longer.
Mrs R Barnes and Miss Ethyl returned the first of the week from a visit with relatives near Waco.
Mrs. B. V. Freeman longtime Kimble county resident died at her Junction east of Sycamore Creek home February 27 1983. Funeral held Tuesday at 2:00 pm at Gentry Cemetery with Rev W S Highsmith officiating. She was born August 16 1853 in Bastrop County Polk City. Survived by eight of twelve children: H W McCaleb Kerrville H W Freeman Del Rio J L Freeman Sam Freeman Wesley Freeman Junction Mrs Bob Phillips Sheffield Mrs Edwin Joy Henley Beal Freeman Sonora. Active Methodist member whose influence touched many. Large funeral crowd noted in Halls and surrounding communities.
At a Bedare Parent-Teacher Association meeting a Cemetery Aid Society was formed with officers J. F. Ragsdale as president Mrs. I. O. Dunbar as first vice president Mrs. Herbert Simon as second vice president Gully Consert as secretary and Floyd Little as treasurer
Mrs. Joe Fritz arrived home Wednesday after visiting her sister Mrs. R. L. Smith in San Angelo.

District Court opened Monday with Judge Joe G. Montague presiding. The grand jury completed work in two hours and found four felony bills. DA Weaver H. Baker was praised for efficient handling saving county costs. Sheriff J C Graham and jailer Ernest Boyett commended for jail sanitation. Court officials’ cost-cutting noted as jury dismissals delayed to Friday. Several dozen cases disposed this week at minimal cost. Mr and Mrs H P Rankin attended Ollie Abraham's funeral in Tulsa and visited Plainview and Petersburg on return.
M A Goodall of Merizon, formerly Roosevelt's citizen, is visiting relatives and friends. He serves as county Tax Assessor.

A charity event titled Penny a Pound invites attendees to dance for a good cause. Women are weighed at the door with different premiums by hair color and weight, while overweights pay half a cent per pound and stags pay one cent per pound. Proceeds support the Junction baseball club this season.
Chief John M Hawkins announced the Junction Volunteer Fire Department will hold an annual election Monday night at 7 80 at the fire station. Officers to be elected include Chief Assistant Chief president vice president secretary treasurer and recorder. All firemen should attend as policies on department work will be discussed. Henry Barnes returned to California after visiting his mother Mrs R Barnes.
