Grubbing Begins on State Highway No 4
Grubbing of right-of-way on State Highway No 4 began Monday at the North Llano bridge. Rain hampers progress as relief labor clears the route toward the Menard county line. Commissioners court ordered deeds recorded on No 4 from Junction north to the county line. Construction work continues south of Menard with hopes of linking Kimble and Menard counties to Concho county's hard surface.

Local Boy Scouts to Attend Mertzon Camp
Several Junction Boy Scouts and troops from Station B plan to attend the annual camp at Mertzon Texas opening Sunday June 16 for one week. Amos Floyd scoutmaster will accompany the scouts from both places. About 12 Junction scouts and two from Station B will attend. A physical exam is required for entry, with Dr J E Wiedeman providing the service free.

Legion Auxiliary Meets June Fifth
The American Legion Auxiliary Burt Fleming unit held its regular meeting on Wednesday June 5 with seven members present. The poppy committee noted many flowers remained unsold while the decoration day flower drive was well received helping provide wild and cultivated blooms. Refreshments were served by Mrs Annie Highsmith and Mrs Helen Gray Browning including jelly rolls with icing and ice cream with marmalade or peach preserves.

Junction Rotary to Send Delegate to Mexico City Convention
John M. Hawkins, secretary of the Junction Rotary Club, travels Friday to Mexico City for Rotary International’s annual convention as the Junction Club’s delegate. About 60 countries attend and the city plans to host around ten thousand guests. Hawkins will be away about ten days with solid Spanish skills.

Second Signal Corps Encamped on Llano
The Second Signal Corps at Fort Sam Houston camped on the Boy Scout grounds near South Llano amid rain and mud.
