Kimble Boys in Service Weekly News Update

The Junction Eagle reports on local service members with parents urged to mail post cards noting rating and branch. Corporal Joe Eckert, at Fort Bliss, visited his parents. Fred Bierschwale, son of Harp er residents, promoted to corporal in California. Mrs. Darrel Smith and Bobbie visited a husband in Providence. Pfe Frank C. Dagen departed for Camp Matthews in San Diego for engineering training as his wife visited from Refugio. 1st Lt Tom Hardeman, son of Ward and Mrs. Hardeman, earned silver wings after training since December 1942 at Columbus Army Flying School in Miss.

Mrs Roy Backues Catches 31 Pound Catfish

Mrs Roy Backues nee Aleen Hodges caught a 31 pound catfish Monday night. She previously hauled a 60 pound fish last season. She arrived from Abilene where her husband is stationed at Camp Barkeley to visit and show she still knows how to catch the big ones.

Delaines Rams Gather for Junction Sale at Hill Country Fair

At noon on Wednesday 69 registered Delaines rams are penned at Hill Country Fair Grounds in Junction. Trucks arrive hourly bringing top Delaines for the sale on Friday with more than 200 animals expected by Friday morning. Breeders seeking better Delaines will find them in the sale on July 0.

Two Junction Boys Earn Lone Star Farmer Degrees

At the V A Conference in San Angelo Area II ranked second in Texas for Lone Star degrees. Worth Whitworth and Carleton Bierschwabe led 23 Lone Star and five American Farmer degrees applied this year. Congressman O C Fisher spoke on wartime vocational agriculture and FRA strength. A W Browning was hospitalized in Kerrville.

Revival Services At Junction Baptist Church

Revival services in progress at Junction Baptist Church with Rev. Perry Evans of Fort Worth preaching daily at 10:00 am and 8:45 pm. Crowds grow nightly as Evans delivers strong sermons. Rev. Adams Son Enlists for Field Artillery Training

Private Elbert M. Adams son of Mr and Mrs Dave Adams enlisted in the U S Army on December 12 1942 at Fort Sam Houston Texas but was sent to Fort Sill Oklahoma for basic training in the Field Artillery About four weeks ago he was transferred to Camp Gordon Georgia where he continues his training He is one of three Adams sons serving their country.

Delaines Prepare for Second Annual Ram Sale in Junction

Delaine breeders in Kimble County and across the Hill Country ready their flocks for the Second Annual Delaine Ram Sale to be held in Junction on July 30. The Texas Delaine Merino Record Association counts 130 Texas members as the breed remains strong since its early 1880s importation.

Murr Church Sells Ram for Red Cross Auction

The Murr Church of Christ donated a Delaine ram to the local Red Cross chapter. The ram will be auctioned at the Delaine Ram Sale on Friday July 30 at the Hill Country Fair Grounds. Roy Murr Register and the Murr family have long specialized in Delaine sheep.
