Service members from Junction area receive weekly news update

The Junction Eagle lists local service members with notes on their postings and recent travels. James Ira Weaver remains in the Middle East, R. E. Moore Jr. is in the North Atlantic, and James Broyles Jr. is at Camp Roberts California. Others include James Meredith heading to San Antonio, J. C. Baylor enlisting in the Navy, and John L. Beasley Family Visits. Mosley Wedding Aboard

Lt and Mrs Jake Beasley and daughter Carol Sue of Bracketville visited relatives here this week with Ross Beasley. Lt and Mrs Lee Roy Mosley of Camp Hulen Palacios Texas are visiting Homer Mosley. Lt Mosley and Miss Billie Stadig of Palacios were married on July 9.

Frank Fox Leaves for Tampa After Brief Visit

Frank Fox departed last Friday for Tampa Florida after a short visit with his parents Mr and Mrs Chas Fox. He has served over two years and spent much time abroad outside the United States.

Son of Junction engineer serves in Pacific war

George A. Smith, engineer with the State Highway Department in Junction for over a year, is project engineer for the Holland Page Construction Co. on the Olney Texas Air Port. His son Malcolm Smith, Junction High School grad, is a top turret gunner on a Liberator in the South Pacific.

Aviation Cadet Robert M. Neal Training in California

Aviation Cadet Robert M. Neal son of Mr and Mrs Ben Neal is stationed in Tulaire California for Army Air Forces primary pilot training. He finished pre flight school in Santa Ana around early July with an average grade and is now in air with his wife Mrs Neal and son Bobby Jr.

Kimble County youths enter U S Armed Forces

Kimble County young men continue to leave for service in the U S Armed Forces. On July 5 several men went to San Antonio for physicals with mixed outcomes and assignments to Army Navy. A Selective Service Board meeting placed six men in 1-A with August call expected. Local residents travel and family updates noted.

Clean-Up Campaign In Junction Makes Good Beginning

The Junction Eagle reports a city wide clean up drive to combat infantile paralysis fears in Kimble County. Steps include upgrading outdoor toilets, daily garbage pickup in business areas, weekly residence trash collection, and removing all hogs from city limits by July 22. Citizens urged to keep homes and stores sanitary to curb disease and protect children.

Lt William Watts in North Africa ex Civil Engineer

Lt. William Tr Watts has arrived in North Africa with Army Engineers. A Texas Tech civil engineering graduate and licensed member of ASCE, he previously worked with J B Converse and Co. in Port Arthur and Mobile. He served as resident engineer on the Rockland Dam project on the Neches River and planned a large housing project at Orange. Mr and Mrs Watts lived in the Phillips Apartments in Junction.

Hill Country Billy Sale Set for August 13 14 at Junction

Secretary Harold Schwiening announces the Seventh Annual Hill Country Billy Sale at Hill Country fair grounds Junction on August 13 and 14. The event showcases registered Angora yearling billies with Nelson Johnson as auctioneer. Committees cover executive sales classification sifting and more. Sales start at 9 30 each morning with consignments listed in next Junction Eagle issue.

Camporee Plans For Ranch District Scouts

Boy Scout Troop No. 20 hosts Ranch District Camporee August 11 and 12 at the South Llano grounds with about 125 boys and 15 leaders. Two days feature craft contests and a swim meet, patrol versus patrol scoring, and rewards. Each troop must complete an overnight prep within ten days for 100 extra points. Troop 20 will hold its own camp July 28-29. ten activities unlock the event for leaders. Don Jordan leads as Senior Patrol Leader with Albert Bartley Jr., Tommie Hodges, Jakie Taylor, and Jim McCrary among the leaders.

Delaine Ram Sale Set for July 30 at Hill Country Fairgrounds

In Kimble County the Texas Delaine Sheep Breeders Association will auction more than 200 top Delaine rams on Friday July 30 at Junction Hill Country Fair Grounds. Revival Meeting At Baptist Church With Rev Perry Evans

Revival services begin Sunday at the Baptist Church with Rev Perry Evans of Fort Worth as visiting evangelist. Morning worship at 10 00 AM and evening services at 845 PM on the church lawn.
