John B. Wilson Dies After Long Ranching Life

John B. Wilson, a Kimble County ranchman for 37 years, died in a Kerrville hospital Sunday after a years long illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Schreiner Hodges Chapel with Elder W. M. Speck and Rev. Lewis L. Wilkins officiating. Interment followed in Junction Cemetery. Pallbearers included Clay Secrest and M. C. Blackburn among others. Wilson was born September 24, 1880 in Lampasas County, Texas.

Texas Synthetic Rubber Plants Open This Week

Texas plans to complete a fully integrated rubber industry by year end with 40 plants nationwide, Baytown starting this week and eight more in Texas. The Baytown plant will reach 30 000 tons annually. Texas will lead in Buna S and Bury rubber output, supported by Port Neches Borger Houston Corpus Christi Ingleside Texas City Velasco plants.

Local Boy Scouts Return From Camp Fawcett Trip

Local Scouts returned from Camp Fawcett near Barksdale after a week of instruction and recreation. About 200 Ranch District boys of the Concho Valley Council won first in camp inspection and third in swim and obstacle events. Staff honors went to Don Jordan Tommie Hodges and Teddie Holekamp with Frank Hubbell directing water front and training.

Cactus Study Club Opens Tin Can Drive in Junction

The Cactus Study Club urges Kimble County residents to collect tin cans to aid war efforts. The old Junction post office building serves as the collection center with members ready to instruct on preparation and shipping.

Revival Services Held by Pastor Eastman at Saline

Gregory resigns as Junction V A teacher to lead state eleemosynary farms

W W Gregory resigns from Junction High School where he taught vocational agriculture for six years to become superintendent of Texas eleemosynary schools farms and dairies. He led winning livestock teams, directed county livestock efforts, and will relocate with wife Mrs. Gregory and daughters Billy Sue and Mary Ann to Austin.

Lester Pearl Receives Air Medal for Distinctive Service

Staff Sgt. Lester J. Pearl of London Texas is one of 16 Texans awarded the Air Medal for anti-submarine patrols over the Atlantic. The War Department announced the honor last Friday in Washington. Pearl is son of T B Pearl and a Junction High School alumnus who starred on the 1935 Junction championship football team.
