State Railroad No Longer Tax Eater
Houston Jan 16 The Texas State Railroad board reports that the road remains in operation from Rusk to Palestine with equipment on hand except for a few obsolete cars and one locomotive. It cites $300000 saved to the state under current management and projects $400000 more saved by 1926 end. The rehab boosted value to about $1000000 and recommends transferring rail title to the State Railroad and selling the line when advantageous while advising against continued operation by the state.
