Results of Hollands Game Protection Move
Public-spirited citizens in five Southwestern states completed a campaign by Hollands Magazine, establishing 2,948,841 acres in bird and game refuges with five years of absolute protection. Texas accounts for 2,800,403 acres, Arkansas 28,268, Oklahoma 18,173, Louisiana 5,927, New Mexico 3,440, refuges range 10 to 250,000 acres and include ranches such as King Ranch and Kenedy Ranch. Eight refuges total 100,000 to 250,000 acres, with youths dedicating 7,899 yards to feeding birds.
