College Street Church of Christ Plans Meeting

The College Street Church of Christ announced final plans for a meeting led by evangelist Horace Busby starting the first Sunday in March. Daily services are at 10 a.m. and 7 30 p.m with all day meetings on Sundays. N J Jordan and C Phillips named as additional Elders alongside Frank C Hodges K G Durst and Alfred Bannowsky. Menard Beats Eagle Quintet In District Final tilt

The Menard Yellowjackets edged the Junction Eagles 26 to 24 in Menard gym on Saturday lifting the district 22B race to a final tilt. About 400 fans watched as Menard and Reagan meet tonight in Big Lake to decide the eastern district crown. The Eagles’ coach and assistants declined to discuss handicaps affecting the game.

Deputy Collector To Visit Junction For Tax Help

A deputy collector of internal revenue will be in the Kimble county courthouse on Tuesday March 2 to assist with income tax return filings. Those wishing to consult him may do so from 8 p m to 9 p m.

War Memorial Project Started in Kimble County

Preliminary work began on an avenue of trees to memorialize World War I dead. County chairman Mrs. W. P. Riley announced the Kimble County Federation of Womens Clubs sponsors. Sites were staked along the highway between 11th Street and Five Points by Ben J. Lednicky and H. R. Fields. Mayor Joe Bissett arranged dirt excavation for planting. Twenty five pecan trees are on order from Producers' Market with special pricing by manager R. E. Homann. Bear Creek Study Club donates a tree. others may contribute by visiting Producers' Market or contacting Mrs. Riley or Louis Joseph.

The American Legion Auxiliary sponsors a benefit domino and a 42 party in the Legion Hut on Friday February 20 starting at 7 30 p m. The public is invited.

Kimble Boys Livestock Show Postponed to Prepare for Kerrville Event

The Kimble County Livestock Show and Sale was held Wednesday after a weather postponement to ready animals for the District Boys' Livestock Show in Kerrville February 1921. Judging starts 8:30 a.m. Friday with seven division champions returning for Grand Championship. The show will include a showmanship contest Saturday at 10:45 a.m. and auction of about 400 head at 12:30 p.m. Saturday. results and local winners to be reported next week.

Coke Stevenson Heads South on Rio Grande Speaking Tour

Former governor and U.S. Senate candidate Coke R. Stevenson leaves Tuesday with companion Bob Murphy for a Rio Grande Valley tour. He will speak in Mission February 18 to a civic group and Friday at the La Feria Chamber of Commerce banquet. The tour ends with an appearance at the Washington Day celebration in Laredo, with multiple valley stops along the way.

Car license tag sales slow in Kimble County

Sheriff office reports slow sales of the 2100 passenger car and truck license tags with 1035 trailer and motorcycle tags issued. Passenger tags range AZS8700 AZ9809 with 1200 allocated. commercial tags ME1950 ME2399. farm truck RD640 RD1099. Tags issued February 2 must be used after April 1.

Golden Anniversary Visit in San Marcos Draws Family

Mr and Mrs Ovie Buster and Mr and Mrs Loyd V Williamson visited San Marcos for a golden wedding celebration and family reunion. Ed Williamson observed a 50th wedding anniversary with a noon turkey dinner and open house. Former Kimble County Native Joins Eagle as Subscriber

Couple celebrates Valentine wedding and birth in Fort Stockton

C of C Officials Attend U S 290 Highway Meeting

Kimble County Chamber representatives joined the Highway 290 Improvement Association in Johnson City. County Judge M C Blackburn and Russell Graham were named to the executive committee with Alfred Petsch and Tom Martin from Fredericksburg as chair and vice chair, and M J Ferrick of Austin as secretary. An aggressive campaign targets Gillespie Blanco and Travis counties for 290 improvements.

District Court Opens Monday in Fort Stockton

The 112th District Court at Fort Stockton opens Monday with Judge J B Randolph presiding. Twenty cases are listed including four forgery and forged instrument charges and one swindling case. Nine of 14 civil suits involve divorce and one child custody matter. Grand jury adjourns after 10 am opening. petit jurors summoned for Thursday at 10.

Junction ISD Sets March 6 Elections on Tax and Bonds

The Junction Independent School District trustees set March 6 for two elections at the county courthouse. Voters will decide tax equalization and the assumption of bonded indebtedness for recently annexed common school districts. Edgar McLencon named presiding officer. Men’s Bible Class Formed In Texan Theatre

Twenty seven men attended the first session led by Rev J B Jordan at the Texan Theatre. The non-denominational group meets Sundays at 9 45 am for one hour and operates by member donations. It aims to reach men not in regular church attendance across all vocations and encourage participation in work sport and dress. Theatre costs will be donated by the theater owners.

Chamber Commerce Adds Nine New Members This Year

The Chamber of Commerce reports nine new members since January, including Sheriff J. O. Wright County Agent John W. Jennings and H. D. Lackey Sr. Also added are Pete Jacoby Veterans Vocational School coordinator and Jim Broyles who left the grocery business. The board notes steady growth without a recent drive and cites its large business representation. The next board meeting is Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the County courtroom with invites to C. A. Cemetery Aid Society Sweet Sale In Town

The Cemetery Aid Society held a sweet sale downtown Saturday raising about 35 dollars for the treasury. Treasurer Mrs. Albert Taylor reported. Donations were received and the sale booth was run by president Mrs. J A Cavaness and Mrs. Taylor in front of the Texan Theatre.

Shell retirements honor longtime Texas Gulf Shell executive

R. H. Woody, local Shell Station superintendent, traveled to Austin on Saturday to attend a dinner honoring P. J. Williams, assistant superintendent of the Texas Gulf Area Shell Pipe Line Corporation, who retires after 31 years with the company.

Annual Poppy Sale Plans Made Friday

American Legion Auxiliary met Friday evening in the Legion Hut. Mrs. Floyd Little presided and led a world peace prayer. They ordered 1500 poppies to aid children of disabled veterans, with future study on Argentina. Twelve members attended.

Eagles Start Track Practice in Preparation for Eight Meets

Eagles begin third phase of school sports under coach Bob Short with track practice. Assistant Frank Hubbell says prospects are bright as athletes aim for eight meets from March to May including Triangle Meet in Brady, Border Olympics in Laredo, Brady Relays, Alamo Heights in San Antonio, Texas Relays in Austin, District Meet in Junction, and regional and state meets in late April and early May.

Christian Church Initiates Regular Services Here

The Rev J J Ray, former minister of the First Christian Church in Mason, will preach Sunday evening in the Presbyterian Church chapel initiating regular services for Junction members of the First Christian Church. Dates will be announced later. The building used by the Presbyterian Church was erected about 20 years ago. property remains owned by the First Christian Church. Public invited.

Licenses Issued For Two Marriages This Month

Ragland Woman Plans Home Return After Brother's Funeral

Mrs Ragland will return home today after being called to Nixon by the death of her brother C E Austin owner of the American Food Stores in Mexico City. Austin died from injuries in a traffic accident and funeral services were held Monday in Nixon.
