Fire Lanes Designated On College Street By Volunteer Dept

The Junction Volunteer Fire Department designates College Street as the fire lane to aid firemen en route to calls. LaRue Newby announces. Citizens should cross with caution after sirens. Intersections are marked as precautions for public and firemen. Main Street remains used by trucks en route to fires. Cooperation is urged to save lives and property.

New Funeral Director Accepts Position Here

J. E. B. Crenshaw recently of Peel-Jackson Funeral Home in Corpus Christi has taken the role of funeral director and undertaker with The Hodges Company, succeeding M. G. Stephens who resigned to enter sales. The Crenshaws moved into the Stephens apartment last week. Stephens will reside in Fort Smith Arkansas after moving with his wife and daughter. He begins at Lynch Supply Co. while the Stephens family plans their relocation.

Downtown Men’s Bible Class Planned by Methodist Church

Junction Methodist Church sponsors a downtown men’s Bible class meeting first at 9 45 Sunday morning in the Texan Theatre building. All local men are invited to join and enjoy fellowship. Joe Brown Ross of Sonora and N IX Farmer are named as directors of the Kimble Electric Cooperative replacing Alfred Bannowsky and Asa Marr. E R Brown named vice president to serve until the July annual meeting. The resignations followed by bylaws bar incumbents from political office with paid salary.

Local shops to close for livestock sale program

A Chamber of Commerce survey shows most town businesses will close Friday from noon to 3 pm in support of the Fat Stock Show and Sale set to begin at 1 pm. Walter Leamons, secretary, notes the downtown area was surveyed and nearly all approached agreed to close.

Barbecue Dinner Set for Friday at Fair Grounds

Local merchant buys Vanderstucken Dry Goods in Sonora

Red Cross Quota Set For Local Chapter

The local Red Cross quota is set at 51 000 with March fund drive groundwork led by Louis Joseph and Reuben S Loeffler. Officials cite higher costs and 1947 being a record disaster year as reasons for the national increase from 60 006 000 to 75 000 000 while the local last year stood at 1 720.

Boys Livestock Show And Sale Opens Friday Morning

The event begins at 9 A M Friday with the annual boys livestock show and sale. Red Cross fundraising kicks off March 1 as local chairman Louis Joseph announces committees and plans to cover the county. Walter Leamons heads headquarters. Anna Mae Sheppard leads special groups. E A Loeffler and C A Schraub run the business district. Kimble County Federation of Women’s Clubs participates in residential areas. Buttoned up plans include two later committee meetings and soon named chairmen for outlying communities.

Highland Club Hosts Hoge Foundation Speaker Series

The Highland Study Club presents Mrs. Elwood Street of the Hogg Foundation for youth and parent groups on three occasions Monday and Tuesday. Events include a 3 p.m. talk at Hotel Las Lomas on February 16, a 8 p.m. panel with local high school students, and an assembly at the high school auditorium for PTA members and families. The event, part of a yearlong program on Juvenile Delinquency, aims to help mothers and fathers meet teens' needs. colors yellow and white will mark the tea. Record crowd seen for FRA and 4H Fat Stock Show

Attendance is expected to reach a new high at the Hill Country Fair Grounds as the FRA and 4H Fat Stock Show and Sale opens with a 9 am curtain. Supt. John A. Local Firemen Host Aug Hill Country Convention

Junction accepts invitation to host the Hill Country Firemen's Convention in August. The local department won three second places at the convention held Tuesday in Winters in the pumper race, 3-man race, and one man race. Attendees included Chief Jimmie Simmons and Assistant Chief Leon Powell with several others. New officers elected include Fred Key as president and Gomer Menick as vice president.

Cemetery Aid Society Sweet Sale At Texan Theatre
