E A Loeffler R H Loeffler and Walter Tusley returned Thursday from Houston where they attended a Ford Dealers meeting.
The Women's Missionary Society of the Baptist Church sponsors an eye shower to stock Buckner Orphans' Home with eggs. The home houses about eight hundred children needing daily egg supplies, with donations urged at the church parsonage Skaggs Grocery or Burt's Barber Shop. Eggs should be brought soon.
George Robert Pepper, aided by M K Bethel, feeds three home grown calves at Junction High School. From 375 pounds at start on grain feed to 700 pounds after 100 days, the calves gained 975 pounds total. Costs total 62.51 with calves valued at 84.00, yielding a 21.49 profit plus 17.11 from feed. Pepper previously won a feeding demonstration three years earlier.
Reverend L. E. Selfridge D D of San Antonio will preach at 7 30 in the Fannie A Dupuy Memorial Christian Church next Sunday. He is Superintendent of Home Missions in Western Texas Presbytery and has preached in Junction many times. All are invited to hear him.
The Evergreen Community Sunday School will meet at 2:30 next Sunday afternoon in the Evergreen School house. Immediately after the Sunday school period the Rev. L. E. Selfridge D. D. of San Antonio will preach. Come and bring others with you.
The Rev. R Neal Greer Baptist pastor of Junction will preach at Segovia new school auditorium after Sunday school at 3 30 p m.
The La Junta Study Club will meet February 15 at the home of Mrs. Asa G. Farmer with Miss Austin Durst serving as hostess.
The tax collectors office reports only 760 poll tax receipts issued this year versus 1 161 last year. Officials call 1933 an off year contributing to the drop. The record lists precinct totals for the past four years.
An American Legion Auxiliary meeting was held at the courthouse at 2:30 PM on February 4. A social gathering is planned for February 14 at 2:00 PM in the Auxiliary room, inviting all women with relatives in the American Legion. a coffee and pie sale will occur March 1 during court week, open to the public. monthly first Saturday meetings are the regular schedule.
The City Tax Collector reports that $4,858.07 of the 1932 taxes have been collected and $6,816.25 remain unpaid as of February 1, 1938. Delinquent taxes prior to 1982 total $4,584.79. Payment time has been extended to April 1, 1933 to allow others to pay without penalty or interest.
Anniversary of the Boy Scouts milestone observed February 8 marks the 23rd year since the 1910 Washington charter founded scouting in America. Local Troop 20 celebrates with window displays, radio programs from KGKL and San Angelo, church service, a father and son hike, and a court of honor featuring Eagle Scout badges to be awarded by W. Draper of San Angelo. The program aims to recruit and train a significant portion of new citizens through Scout training and community involvement.

A J Bierschwale, longtime Junction High principal and vocational agriculture teacher now at Sterling City, is recognized for guiding students. Jerry Brown and Raymond Welch of Sterling City won national awards in the 1932 American Royal Livestock Show essay contest, with Brown earning 15 dollars and Welch 8.
William A. Surber died at Roosevelt on Monday February 6. The body was buried in Bodarec Cemetery on Tuesday with Rev. G W Crofoot officiating. Born August 13, 1862 in Pulaski County Kentucky, he moved to Texas in 1869. Married in 1891, he is survived by wife and seven children Arch Surber Florence Texas Frank Surber San Antonio John Surber Florence Texas Bill Surber Jr Roosevelt Mrs Ruth Halliday San Antonio Miss Margaret Surber Junction Mrs Kenith Wilson Menard Texas, plus several brothers and sisters and other relatives.

City tax payers receive an extension notice. Time to pay city taxes extended to April 1, 1933 without interest or penalty. If half taxes paid by April 1, remaining half may extend to June 1 1933, otherwise interest and penalties apply. About 42 percent paid so far.
A north wind brought the coldest weather of winter to Kimble county this week. Thermometers ranged from zero to eight degrees, with government readings at 6 degrees and 18 degrees on successive mornings. January saw 1.51 inches of rain and near freezing highs, while February began fine before the cold spell. Farmers report damaged winter gardens and potential fruit injury as trees in bloom face setbacks.
