Joe Ganzara of New York City fired on a crowd in Miami after Franklin D Roosevelt finished speaking. Roosevelt was uninjured though Mayor Anton Cermak and three others were wounded. Ganzara was arrested after the attempt. The incident followed a plan to kill the president and officials. Roosevelt canceled plans to depart for New York and visited the wounded before leaving.

Lions Club Holds Meet Monday Night
The Junction Lions Club met in the County Courtroom with 11 members present led by Judge R R King. A resolution backed continuing the Game Fish and Oyster Commission. Luncheons are paused but members aim to keep the club active with monthly meetings and a 34 member roll. Segovia Sunday School will meet next Sunday at 2 30 p m followed by Rev G W Crofoot’s sermon. Brice W Draper attended Court of Honor as Overby Smith and Jarvis Jordan earned Eagle Scout badges.

Honeymooners Forget Parked Car Location
Mr and Mrs Russell Lavelle of Junction on their honeymoon in San Antonio blushed as detectives solved a two day case involving a believed theft of their auto and several hundred dollars in clothing. Lavelle had parked the car with suitcases two days earlier and thought it vanished, but detectives Hice and Littlepage traced it to a different hotel location revealing a simple memory error.

Truck Dives Into River Near Bridge Disaster
A Ford truck loaded with fruit plunged 20 feet from the South Llano bridge into the river near Carl bad. Patton and Chandler escaped unharmed though the vehicle was crushed and railing damaged. Brakes wet and lights failing as the turn was made. 40 feet of railing torn, fruit scattered, crowd watched as work crews cleared the scene.

Clerk Issues Three Marriage Licenses Since February
County Clerk Ramsey Randolph has issued three marriage licenses this year. The licenses granted were Raymon Schneider and Veola Wahl on February 4, Russell Lavelle and Helen Craddock on February 11, with a third license to an out of town couple withheld from publication.
