The February term of the 112 district court will convene in Junction on February 27 1933 under Judge Joe G Montague. The docket is light but several cases are already listed. Grand jury meets at 700 PM February 27. petit jurors report March 1. Jury lists compiled by A G Farmer M C Reese and Felix Watson.
Louis Ramsey of Big Lake and Charles Ramsey of Woodsboro toured here early this week. They run Ramsey Variety Stores in Big Lake and Woodsboro and report satisfactory business. R G Waters assistant attorney general returned Tuesday from Vernon after recovering 91 160 in a district court suit against C D Green former tax collector and the American Surety Company of New York as bond surety.
The Medina River Association Workers Conference will convene at Reservation Baptist Church on February 7 with Rev. A. T. Nixon as pastor and an urgent invitation to all assoc church representatives. The program includes devotional times, sermons and a luncheon, followed by reports from W. M. A led by Mrs C H Richerson and visitors from Brady Kerrville and North Texas.
Both Houses of the Legislature adopted resolutions recommending Dr. T. O. Walton president of the Agricultural and Mechanical College for the position of Secretary of Agriculture. The telegraph to President-Elect Franklin D. Roosevelt was sent Tuesday from Warm Springs Georgia.
Mrs. Weaver H. Baker announces the next regular meeting of the Parent-Teacher Association to be held at 3 30 p m in the high school building. Leaders include Mrs. Robert H Loefller devotional school finances Supt Geo H Mitchell history and significance of Founders Day by Mrs George Peper and meong A Little Child Shall Teach Them by Mrs C W Mc Carroll Candle Lighting Ceremony led by Mrs E R Borden.
C W McCarroll was elected president of the Elmore County Chamber of Commerce replacing Roy Loreen. R E Homann became vice president and Miss Audrey Jackburn was re elected secretary. Directors voted to hold open meetings in the county courthouse at 7 30 p m on the second Monday each month to encourage wider attendance in Junction and Kimble counties.
Epworth League members hosted the San Angelo District gathering on a weekend visit. Guests arrived Saturday afternoon and stayed at the church, with dinner and a program of games. Sunday featured a Young People's Class lesson, a Poland mission talk, and a district business meeting led by Miss Evelyn Whitfeld, with about twenty five out of town guests attending.
The Ivy Schoolhouse hosts a church service next Sunday at seven thirty. Rev. G W Crofoot will preach. Mr and Mrs Frank Bissett and their sons Jimmy and Charles plus Mrs E K A Bissett spent Sunday in San Marcos visiting Miss Stella Bissett who attends the State Teachers College.
Mrs Joe Hardesty was a pleasant visitor at the Eagle office last Saturday.
J N Hodges manager of the Schreiner Hodges Company announces that Handy Andy stock of groceries has merged with Schreiner Hodges stock and future business will run from the Schreiner Hodges building. The merger promises continued low prices and improved service inviting all customers to visit the combined store.
The Order of the Eastern Star meets Thursday evening at the Masonic Hall with a drill on secret work. District Deputy Grand Matron will visit, date to be announced. Members in arrears urged to pay promptly and a full attendance is requested at the February 9 meeting with refreshments after.
Mrs Clay Secrest and Mrs Dorothy Westmoreland accompanied Miss Vivienne Livingston on a trip to San Angelo Tuesday.

Tax collector J C Graham reports 669 cars and 82 trucks registered through Tuesday night. Due to busy workload, a full tax collection statement is not yet available and will be released later. Voters are not expected to turnout. only 730 polls have been issued. Poll lists by precincts will follow after verification.
Executive committee of the Interscholastic League met in the courthouse on Saturday to plan the annual function on March 24 and 25. The league will interpret rules liberally to allow broader school entry and no county championship contests. Committee members present included Supt. Rownds, Supt. Geo. tt Mitchell, Judge King, Principal Cooper, Principal Bowers, and Mrs. Effie Roy Felps.
The R F C fund funds street and sidewalk repairs as a clean up drive spreads through Junction. About half the fund is used with remaining 400 dollars to be spent in February and residents urged to adopt the slogan A cleaner Junction.
President elect Roosevelt plans to invite John N Garner of Texas to share a cabinet seat as vice president. A constitutional amendment for drastic Texas judiciary reform won unanimous approval from the Texas House constitutional amendments committee. The highways committee backed a bill to extend motor vehicle fee payment to March 1 in a unanimous report.
F. F. Pearson of London is reported improving after a serious operation at Standifer Hospital early last week.
Mr and Mrs Chas Henderson returned last week from Dallas where they were at the bedside of Mr Conde Hardeman who has been critically ill for a month.
Dr. Sam Thompson of Kerrville addressed Kimble County Chamber of Commerce members at the county courthouse with over 200 in attendance. The program featured a Mexican supper, community singing led by John Guinn, and dances by Beth Moseby Farmer and Edwina Longren. The annual report highlighted efforts to secure highways, Scout camp funding, and advertising in Junction and Kimble County for 1932. New directors were introduced at the close of the meeting.
The Segovia Sunday-school will meet next Sunday afternoon at two thirty in the Segovia Schoolhouse. Immediately after the Sunday school period, the Rev. G. W. Crofoot will preach. J. E. G. Hillman, San Saba county’s prominent man, died Saturday evening around six after an address at a mass meeting. Death blamed on heart trouble following influenza attack.
