Ham & Yam adds beer and wine at Smithfield festival

Smithfield town council approves alcohol sales for the 2024 Ham & Yam Festival. The 4-3 vote allows the Downtown Smithfield Development Corp to sell beer and possibly wine in the 100 block sections of South Front and South Third streets with signs marking boundaries and police enforcing limits. If problems arise the measure could end after one year.

Station at Old Town Hall eyed as multi tenant redevelopment

Clayton officials on March 4 approved plans by developer Kevin Lee and partners Christi Thompson and Erin Nenni to convert the former town hall on Second Street into a multi tenant building. The project will include a restaurant, artisan market, grocery and office or retail space. Thompson said the goal is a full building occupancy with a food and beverage component and locally sourced goods. The partners own LaDiDa wine shop and Three Little Birds, aligning with local shopping desires and economic growth.
