Workers Reject Wage Hike Plan

Boy Believed Drowned Under McKinley Bridge
A 16 year old youth reportedly drowned beneath the McKinley Bridge during a Mississippi River outing. Lee Ray Holsinger of the Thomas Dunn Memorial Home in St. Louis is identified as the drowned boy. He was swimming when strong currents dragged him about 20 feet from shore.

Another Man Is Added To Recruiting Force
Chief Carl M. Carson announced a new member of the Jefferson City Navy recruiting staff. Dave E. George reported for duty as chief boatswain’s mate at the post office building recruiting office, transferring from the Navy postgraduate school at Monterrey, California. George is a career Navy man with 134 years of service, served with the amphibious forces in the Atlantic during World War II, and served on a seagoing tug in the Far East during the Korean conflict.
