Farmer Is Found After Three Days Lost Along Mississippi River

Ma Sonran report 30 year old farmer A McDonald Swilley was separated from three companions on a berry picking trip near Sonran, Mississippi River, for almost three days. He was found asleep on a sandbar and had not eaten since Tuesday but drank river water. Rescuers Bryan Norman, O H Curtis, and Jack Vires located him in thick underbrush. he was weak but OK.

State Agencies Benefit From Large Budget Increases

Gov. Phil M. Donnelly signed bills boosting funding for state agencies with the Welfare Division receiving about 10 million more and the Revenue Department about 5 million more for the current two year period. Welfare programs and health allocations were expanded while the State Cancer Hospital and State Tuberculosis Sanatorium gains supported health care services.

Final Rites Saturday For Republican Lawyer

Funeral services will be held tomorrow for Alfred L. Grattendick 62 54 Louis lawyer and Republican politician. His widow found him dead of heart disease in bed yesterday morning. Grattendick was nominated several times by his party for public office but was unsuccessful in general elections. He served as treasurer of the Republican city committee for eight years.

First Load of Wheat Received at Boonville Mill

The Boonville Mill and Grain Co received the first load of 1955 winter wheat this morning. The wheat came from Hadley Kosfeld farm near Overton and tested No. 1. This follows the 1954 pattern when the first load arrived in June.

In West Plains Missouri a jury again cannot reach a verdict in the murder case of a 35 nanny goat owned by Myrtle Doatherage.
