Tragic Collision Ties Up Boston Bay Oil Tanker Fire

Skies fog bound off Massachusetts Bay hid a deadly crash as the oil tanker Finthis, from Fall River, and the passenger liner Fairfax collided. The tanker sank within minutes carrying about 40 crew. the Fairfax carried 71 passengers and 70 crew, with at least 11 missing and many injured. Survivors described flames, burning oil, and passengers leaping into the sea as both ships burned and broke apart.

Caulfield backs KC police defense against crime

Kansas City Governor Henry S. Caulfield urged residents and business leaders to back the city's police as the first line of defense against crime. He criticized city manager H. F.
