The Sheridan Township Sunday School Convention meets at Zion Church on Sunday at 2 p.m. Devotional exercises led by H Earl, Township President, with prayers by D Matthews and congregational singing. Addresses include How to Climb Out of the Rut by A B Kieth, How to Keep Up Interest in the Bible Class by A L Thomas, The Visitation Department by E C Williams of Carthage, and Benefits Derived by the Superintendent from His Work by Tom Brock. Recitations and songs punctuate sessions. Miss Edna Ballard and Miss Lillian Magers perform. Carthage residents W P Maring and Geneva Hubbard organize. Benediction by H Earl. Miss Vera Kennedy and Pred Waddell were married in Web City on Sunday September 14. Mrs Waddell had many friends here who learned of the wedding only last Thursday. Kennedy worked at the Conrad store for years and made many friends. Waddell works for Ball and Gapping Milling Co at Webb City and is a young man of promise. They will reside in Webb City and have the best wishes of the News and local friends.

New Brick Stores to Replace Hastings Fronting on Grand Avenue
Two new brick store buildings will replace the current frame structures on Hastings land at Grand Avenue near the Farmers and Merchants Bank. Nunnally occupies the room beside the bank, Roberts takes the corner, and both promise modern up to date fixtures heated by a furnace. Construction to begin soon with completion hoped before winter.

Todd Allerton wins first money in the Dade County Fair races at Lockwood. Owner Lauderbaugh sent his horse Todi with minimal prep and swept three heats in the free-for-all trot for a $200 purse. The next day he repeated in the free-for-all pace in three straight heats, 2.17, with top drivers at the reins. Todd also took $10 as the best roadster stallion on exhibition.
