The annual County Sunday School Convention will meet on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 2 and 25, at the M. E. Church South in Webb City. All Sunday Schools of the county are urged to send delegates.
The Commercial Club invites members to attend a evening gathering, urging attendance to discuss upcoming events and club matters. Local organizers emphasize participation and community engagement for the scheduled session.
The records from D W Teeter registrar for the State Board of Health indicate healthy conditions in Preston and Lincoln Townships with zero deaths in June July and August and one in September. Fourteen births were recorded in those townships during the four months. Commercial Club meets tonight.
The city council approves a traffic ordinance to reduce accidents. It requires brakes and signaling devices, two front lamps and one rear lamp, reduced speeds in city limits, and signaling on corners. Violations incur fines from 4 to 50 dollars, with enforcement by the city marshal.
General Manager Clarkson reports in the October Jefferson Highway Declaration notes along the line. Shelton shows quiet, Lamar organized, Nevada court house meeting, Vernon county gains a board by appointment, Barton county proves its membership with a full organization and funds. Jasper meeting yields representation and county support, Missouri side now fully organized for the Jefferson Highway relay in November.
The Taka Embroidery Club ladies gathered at Mrs. E. L. Crawford's home last Wednesday with guests Mesdames Tom Hardaway H. J. Deardorff and Chas. Hayzlett assisting. Pink and white tea roses adorned the house as music and several contests followed a dainty two course luncheon. Attending were Mesdamiess A. F. Drake J. P. Letes D. C. Houser J. K. Scheoler and Will Hicks.
Dr. Harry F. MacLane of Ohio, representing the Flying Squadron Foundation, will address Jasper’s Baptist Church Friday night October 20 on the prohibitory amendment to the Missouri Constitution. All who oppose saloon business or enjoy eloquent speakers should attend. Extracts from papers praise his oratory and impact.
News reached here this week of the death of Mastin Cline at his home in Ceres California last Saturday. Cause of death was tuberculosis. J J Cline and wife of Jasper arrived at their son's bedside about four hours before death. Mastin Cline born in Bethel neighborhood lived here many years, nearly 45 years old. He went to California some years ago. He leaves a widow and five children, having lost one child years ago. Mrs Cline was Miss Nett Yearl Tuttle, once well known here. Aged parents and other relatives have the sympathy of many friends.
Miss Marie Whitesel spent Sunday at home in Carthage. Last Friday junior English speeches had each student representing a candidate and campaigning Jasper. Miss Maude Cline was elected captain of the girls basketball team. The girls program moves to Friday afternoon. Rev. Mills visited the high school last Friday. Athletics interest remains high. a correction appeared in last week’s school notes.
A series of meetings will start at the Brethren Church on the baseline south of Jasper Sunday October 29 conducted by Rev Earl McKinley Bowman. The public is invited to attend.

Ten year old Connie Lilly daughter of George Lilly suffered a foot injury three months ago when she stepped on a weed stump. She received surgical removal of the object from doctors Knott and Hendricks after being brought to town last Saturday. She recovered from anesthesia and is doing well.
