H. C. Baker Stricken After Long Ill Health
H. C. Baker suffered a paralysis stroke last Thursday at his home in the northwest part of town. He had long been in declining health though recently seemed improved after a coast trip with his wife and son. His family raced to his side as his condition remained serious and relatives from several nearby towns gathered.

Horse Thief Steals Iron Gray Horse Near Jasper
A iron gray horse with saddle and bridle was stolen from C P Carns on the Mitchell farm five miles northwest of Jasper Wednesday night last week. The thief is believed to have sold the horse to a buyer in a neighboring town as horse buyers from St Louis and Kansas City ship daily from this region.
