In Jasper county Missouri W J Schooler who has fed many steers over six months quips that every business has reverses and failures. He calls the year for cattle feeders one to remember and a lesson urging farmers to pay less for feeders and to manage cheaper feed. Drover's Telegram notes advertisers should submit ad copy by Monday with Tuesday noon cutoff.
Harley Follmer eldest son of I P Follmer and wife has diphtheria but is progressing well. Rumor of Walker Hubbard child with diphtheria spread, yet Dr. Schooler attending both cases says Hubbard child only has a cold and sore throat with no diphtheria confirmed.

Toy Binney, who ran a Jasper pool hall for months, was traced to Carthage and arrested early Thursday. He reportedly admitted setting the fire, saying business troubles and a $400 mortgage left him destitute. The building’s concrete, brick walls and metal ceiling limited damage to tables. one burned completely. Postmaster Hardaway discovered the blaze about 4:30 AM. Binney was arraigned with $1,000 bond and a preliminary hearing set for May 6.

The Freeman Missouri school district elected George Masters of Jasper as principal for the coming year. Freeman lies ten miles southwest of Harrisonville in Cass County. Masters will move his family to Freeman in August and is praised for years of teaching experience and diligent normal work.
The Jasper Electric Light Company moved its light plant last Thursday to the old Davis barn, remodeled for the purpose. Two new 4 horsepower oil burning I H C engines are installed, believed sufficient for the Jasper plant. Service is improving and the company aims to provide the best possible service to Jasper.
Warrensburg State Normal baseball star infielder Guy Webb survived a wreck on the Katy when a train derailment sent cars onto their sides. The squad, traveling from Moberly to Warrensburg last Thursday morning, escaped injury though their coaches and players watched their cars slide along ties for hundreds of feet.
The Auto Transportation Company of Webb City launched its Jasper Carthage motor bus on a trial run with George A. Harbaugh and W B McMechan aboard. The three round trips daily start from Cortlinge with Jasper departures at 9 am and 4 pm. Fare is 5 cents one way, with pickups along the route.
Informal party hosted by Mrs. Tom Hardaway and Mrs. EL Scott honors Miss Bernice Lockie of Oklahoma visiting relatives. Decorations feature violets and lilacs, with Mrs. Lear high score and Mrs. C Earl low. Refreshments served and guest list includes local names. Taka Club closes season with blindfolded basketball and luncheon for members and guests.
Miss Virginia Hille and Mr. Roy E. Coday wed at the bride’s country home, 446 miles southeast of Jasper, April 24. The ceremony, officiated by Rev. John T. Curtis, followed a feast as guests from Carthage, Alba, and Jasper gathered to celebrate. The couple plans a visit to Marshfield before settling in Oklahoma, with a bright future forecast by family and friends.
The Mitchell County Farmers Union Cooperative Association of Kansas announced a thriving financial year after its annual audit. It operated five cooperative elevators five cooperative stores one cream station and one oil station while distributing flour and feed to patrons. A neighboring county runs a similar system guided by county manager HE Wit ham.
Mrs. Omer Webb returns home this week from Carthage hospital where she has been under care of surgeons and nurses the past month. She is rapidly recovering and hopes to be well again soon.
