The News Office finished the new Phone Directory last week for Manager Johnson. Patrons are invited to call at the News Office, the First National Bank or the telephone central office for copies. The central office requests all patrons to call by number.
Jim Morgan and wife formerly from this community travel from near Alva Oklahoma to visit relatives here. His brother lives northwest of Jasper and Mrs. Morgan’s father resides in Jasper. Morgan left seventeen years ago with a wife and four children and seven hundred seventy dollars worth of personal property. Now they own 1600 acres of land near Alva with horses hogs and cattle and operate a furniture business in Alva.

Wheeler boys joined the Signal Corps and will be called in about ten days. others joined the Engineer Corps and were sent to St Louis. The Jasper school board elected Prof. Ulmer from Alba as assistant superintendent and Miss Bess Bowen as high school teacher. Ulmer will fill the position he held in Alba, while Bowen returns here after declining a Tulsa graded schools offer. Aretha Baird’s resignation as a grade teacher was accepted. no other vacancies remain for next year.
Farmers of Preston Township will meet at the Farmers Elevator office at 2 30 p m Saturday June 6 to organize a farmers club a cooperative union for the benefit of the farmers 80 organized. Every farmer in the township should attend this meeting.
The U S Dairy Co of Japan opened a branch this week in town near the Farmers Elevator. J I Thacker is in charge of the new operation for the present.
