Death of U S Hatfield Hatfield Dies at Home in Jasper
Ulysses 8 Hatfield died last Friday at his daughter Mrs Narl Garners home after a six month illness of dropsy. Funeral held Saturday at 1 pm at the Garner residence in Jasper with Rev Lewis of the M E Church South officiating. Burial in Mitchell Cemetery. Born Caldwell County Missouri May 7 1805 nearly 51. Came to Barton County in 1875 then Jasper area later moving to Joplin. Survived by wife Mary Kunkler and four children Mrs Ross Baird Lakeside Mrs Marl Garner Jasper Arthur Hatfield Goolman Mo Missiertrade Hatfield Lakeside. The family thanks those who offered kindness during illness and death.

Former Jasper Man Killed in Mill Machinery Incident
Isaac Terrell Dalfer was killed in the Sease Tailing Mill at Neck City last Monday morning. No witnesses, unclear cause, and he died almost instantly. Dalfer lived on property once owned by his father, now owned by A L Latimer. the family moved from Jasper to Shannon County about ten years ago.

Commercial Club Adopts Band and Sets First Road Meeting
The Commercial Club approved the Jasper City Band as the Jasper Commercial Club Band and formed a by law to define who may sit in meetings. They planned a road petition drive for Sheridan Township between sections 20 and 2, with $24 to be donated by Secretary Webb. The main summer focus is the Jefferson Highway, with the first road meeting set for March 1 at Pleasant Hill Schoolhouse. Three new members joined: D. H. Wampler, TG. Chiffin, and Ch. A. Cadigeam.
