Public sale of livestock feed and implements will be held at the Zuerr place one mile north and east of Jasper on Wednesday February 29. Auk Sweezy and George Sweery will cry the sale.
The Philothea class of the M. E. Church South presents a college comedy titled Poor Married Man at the opera house on Wednesday night February 28. Cast includes Prof John Wise Dr Matthew Grahan Glen Buzzard Maude Mice Zoe Lara Davis Grace Corder and others. The News announces a subscription rate change to 1.50 after March 1 with renewals before that date credited at 1.00.

G W Harvey writes from New Britain Connecticut that he traveled via Albany Troy and Dartford and will visit New York Washington Cleveland Sandusky and Chicago before returning He hopes Jasper folks are well and fairly good natured.
James Lang died at St Johns Hospital in Joplin after a two year illness. He was born November 20 1847 in Bloomfield Town and served in the Twenty third Illinois Volunteers during the Civil War. He lived near Jasper and Willard Wentworth before his death, survived by five sons and two daughters. Funeral held at M I Church with burial in Mitchell Cemetery beside his wife.
I L Dennis of Carthage died about 11 15 p m Saturday after a week in bed from erysipelas He was known in Jasper county and visited often with his daughter He was born July 10 1853 in Williamsburg Ohio moved to Barton County in the early 1870s married Miss Anna Price and lived in Carthage Engaged in real estate and pinch blown busi ness He leaves wife three children Glenn Dennis of China Calif Raymond Dennis of Joplin and Mrs Allen Peterson of Jasper Mo one brother A M Dennis of Center Point Fla also survives His oldest brother died two weeks ago near Mort Scotl hans (sic)
Birth announcements include Will Law and wife near 215 miles west of Jasper with a 9 pound boy born Tuesday February 20. Will McCune and wife near Jasper six and one half miles southwest welcomed twins a boy weighing 4 pounds and a girl 4 pounds 12 ounces born Sunday February 18. Obituary note mentions A W Teeter in Rising Sun on page 10.
Mrs Schooler hosted a luncheon Tuesday in honor of Miss Jennie Schooler of Riverside Washington who is visiting. Present were Mrs Whox Dokl sr Mrs Dulce Schooler Miss Jennie Schooler Orman Rehooler and C I HN and wife.
