Bakery Reopens in Jasper by J. K. Egner

J K Egner of Kansas City arrived with his wife to reopen the bakery in Jasper in the room next to The News of Mice. He promises first class bakery products and a full line of brent and cake items for the town.

Mrs B W Thompson Hurt In Bridge Approach Mishap

Mrs B W Thompson of Stir neighborhood suffered serious injuries when the horse she was driving to a buggy walked off the approach to an old bridge last Thursday afternoon. Her face was skinned and bruised with fractures in both arms. she is recovering. County court inspected the bridge and promised minor repairs to the approaches.

Mart Replogle Returns to Asper County Home

M. Replogle has moved back to Asper County after years in Colorado. The family bought Henry Rose pies, located six miles south and one mile west of Asper.

Dairy Firm Plans Jasper Plant With U S Dairy Co

John T. Hollinger of the U S Dairy Company of Joplin visited Jasper on Tuesday to arrange a local plant. By March 14 they expect to buy sweet cream and milk and later build a concentrating plant near the Farmers Elevator.

Yeoman Organize Form New Fraternal Group

The Brotherhood of American Yeoman organized here January 2 and adds another fraternal order to the area. The Yeoman call their local organization a hoisted. The membership includes men and women. They meet every hour night. Miss Mary Butler Dies In Jasper Community

Miss Mary KE Butler dies at home in Jasper after a brief illness of apoplexy. Nearly 70 years old, she lived in the community many years and was active in the Holiness Church. Funeral service was at the Holiness Church with burial at Salem. Relatives in the area include cousins Mrs. Fyde Kunkler of Jasper and others.

Death of A D Jackson veteran farmer dies at home

A D Jackson aged 72 died Friday night at the Marshfield home of his son in Carthage address on South Methesor street due to complications of arteriosclerosis. Born in Jasper Tennessee on April 11 1851 he served in the Confederate Army and later farmed in Missouri. He married Lara Clouse in Jasper and after her death wed Berdila Cass of Springfield. Surviving are four children G W Jackson of Miami Oklahoma John Jackson of Kansas City Mrs Roy Avery and Mrs Frank Nebel of Micher Oklahoma. Funeral 7 30 Sunday at home then Marshfield burial.

News Subscription Price Increase Announcement

The News announces a price rise to 1.50 per year beginning March 28 to cover higher paper and printing costs. Existing subscriptions held at 1.00 year will remain until March 1, with renewals due by then at the old rate and advance payments accepted. the paper also expands to 12 pages from February 1.

Alpha Club meeting at Miss Taawason's home last week

The Alpha Club met at Miss Taawason's residence after roll call and a brief business session. An afternoon program titled Religions of Wie South American Temple was followed by a sport session and refreshments hosted by the hostess.

Priday Bock Club Evening Honors Valentines

The Priday afternoon Bock Club met at the former's home with Mesdames Schooler and Arthur Loeter hosting. Valentine's decor featured heart motifs, Miss Pearl Canning won the high prize and Mrs Will Pabler the heavyweight prize. A two course luncheon was served, and Mrs Claude Hill helped host. Viebrola selections accompanied the afternoon. The group will meet with Mrs Lt Crawford in two weeks.

An evening at the Taka Club on Wednesday featured members and guests in a formal gathering with refreshments and entertainment. The writeup notes seating, a serenade, and mention of attendants and servers among a formal social event.

Obituary notes the death of Mrs Melugin at an advanced age. Surviving children include Mrs T O S Martin of Joplin, Mrs B L Snyder of Reeds, J B Meligin of Pryor Oklahoma, Mrs Win Moldeniin of ditsper, Mrs Viimer Preedhe of Vinita Oklahoma, Mrs Sat McNash of Merrit Missouri. Also 26 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren attend her loss.
