American Legion Dances Sponsor Series at Jal City Hall

The American Legion post offers a series of dances at Jal City Hall starting Friday October 21 after the football game. The grockets will provide music and guests are promised a well conducted, enjoyable evening.

Local Woman’s Entry Wins First Prize at Fort Worth Dog Show

Mrs. Victor M. Spratt of the Phillips Camp at Jal entered her Boston terrier Happy Warrior in the Fort Worth Dog Show. The dog, with AKC number 186698, was handled by John Banks of St. Louis and judged by J. J. Duncan of Atlanta. Happy Warrior won a blue ribbon as best in its class among entries from across the nation.

P. T. A. Urges Full Attendance at Jal School Meeting

The Jal P T A held its monthly meeting on Tuesday October 11 at 3 30 pm with few parents present and nearly all teachers in attendance. It urges all parents to attend the second Tuesday meetings to support worthwhile causes and back the president to advance the P T A.

Billy Brooks Taken To Hobbs Hospital After Injury

Jal high school football player Billy Brooks was treated at Hobbs Hospital for a compound bruise from a Monday game. The injury was not serious but infection developed and he was later moved to hospital with expected recovery in a few days.

Jal-Eunice Fray Ends Scoreless

The Jal-Eunice Panthers and Eunice Cardinals played a scoreless tie Friday night with a balanced contest from end to end. Spectators praised standout plays by Cotton Clayton Bill Zahn Pansy Jeter Red Butler and R L Robinson though no team could break through the defenses. Jeters long broken field dash highlighted the best individual effort of the game.

Cowboy From Brooklyn Opens at Rex Theatre With Powell Lane

Rex Theatre announces Cowboy From Brooklyn starring Dick Powell Pat OBrien and Priscilla Lane opens Sunday. The comedy follows a Brooklyn crooner who goes West to try for big success in the East with five new songs plus cowboy ballads in a light hearted romp.
